Dear Olde Creek Families,

We’ve successfully completed our second week of school and are thrilled with how our students have adapted to their new routines.

As a friendly reminder, we will not have school on Friday, August 30th or Monday, September 2nd to observe Labor Day. We look forward to welcoming your children back on Tuesday, September 3rd.

We're also excited to invite you to our Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 4th at 5:30 PM. (Please note: Ms. Philip & Mr. Rolen's Back to School Night will take place on September 9). This is a fantastic opportunity to meet with your child's teachers, learn about our specialists, and gain insights into what your child can expect this year. Please refer to the flyer that was sent home today for more details. The PTA will be holding their first meeting of the year in the Cafeteria at 5:00 PM prior to Back to School Night!

We hope to see a sea of OC Bears at the Woodson High School Cav Carnival tonight. Even though the fun has moved indoors, Mrs. Korb, Mrs. Butler, and Mrs. Kaminsky will be there, ready to cheer on the Cavs. Let's show our school spirit and have a blast!

We wish you a wonderful long weekend!

Sincerely,

Courtney Korb, Principal
Alison Butler, Assistant Principal
Stephanie Kaminsky, Assistant Principal

We Need You! Creating a New OCES Vision & Mission

A school's vision and mission are like a roadmap, guiding us towards a shared goal. They help us create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.

We're excited to be working on a new mission and vision for our school. To make sure it reflects our community's values, we're asking for your input!

Please take some time to answer the questions on the form that went home in Friday Folders today or complete the digital version using the link. Your voice matters!

We're excited to hear your ideas! Please return your completed forms by September 9th!

Woodson High School Carnival & Feeder Night Football Game

We will be moving the Cav Carnival inside!

We ask that you park in the front of the building and enter through Door 3. Sports Leadership students will be at Door 3 to hand out Lei’s and direct parents and students down to the Aux Gym where all the games and activities will take place. There will be free activities/games as well as games where carnival tickets need to be purchased. Carnival tickets will be $5 for 10 tickets. Come join the fun and win some prizes!

Due to the weather, we have decided to postpone the running of the field to a later date. However, if parents and students will want to attend the game, students will still be admitted free with a paying adult.

We can’t wait to see the Woodson community come together for this great event!

FCPS Information

2024 Student Rights and Responsibilities

FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities document (SR&R) explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. Read Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid’s letter to families regarding the SR&R

Parents/caregivers should talk to their child(ren) about expectations for this school year. Also, please log in to SIS ParentVUE and sign to acknowledge your review of the SR&R, or sign and return the signature sheet to your child’s school by Monday, September 30

You can submit questions online regarding the SR&R.

Your Family's App Toolbox

SIS ParentVUE - The SIS ParentVUE Account (Student Information System ParentVUE Account) is the FCPS secure solution for accessing information about your child's attendance, class performance, demographic data, and link to Schoology.

TalkingPoints - TalkingPoints is a free app that allows families to communicate with teachers in their preferred language. We will use this platform to share important information about your child's education and progress.

Here Comes the Bus - Know when the school bus is arriving with the Here Comes the Bus app. This app uses GPS to track bus locations in real time. To use this app, you'll need to set up your ParentVue account first. The FCPS school district code is 28982.

Linq - Find out what's for breakfast and/or lunch each day at Olde Creek!

MySchoolBucks - Online payment for lunch accounts and field trips are available through the MySchoolBucks School Store. This online payment service provides a quick and easy way to pay for school-related purchases. You will be able to pay for a variety of school fees using credit/debit cards or electronic checks.

Attendance Matters

Please take a moment to review the FCPS calendar and plan accordingly. Your child's attendance is vital for their academic progress.

While we understand the importance of family vacations, we kindly request that you plan your trips around our school schedule. Thank you for your cooperation!

The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success. Visit FCPS’ Attendance webpage for tips and strategies.
