Together We Create
What are the paper quilts that are hanging in our hallways? Each square has been uniquely designed by students from all grades, creating a true collaborative art project that they should all be proud of. We love watching the students find their squares as they pass by a quilt. Make sure they point theirs out during back to school night!

A Note from the Principal's Desk
Dear Willow Springs families,
As we end the second week of school, we are very happy to report that we have had a very smooth start to this year, school is in full swing, and students have adjusted well to their new routines. Students and staff have been working hard and everyone deserves some rest and relaxation during this 4-day weekend! Remember, school is closed tomorrow and Monday in honor of Labor Day.
As we head into September, we would like to focus on the importance of regular school attendance. September is Attendance Awareness Month. The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success. Visit FCPS’ Attendance web page for tips and strategies.
We wish all of our families a safe and relaxing 4-day weekend. #WillowPride

Math Olympiad
We're excited to invite you back for another year of mathematical exploration and competitions. Our club has had tremendous success in the past, and we're confident that this year will be just as rewarding.
As we prepare for the upcoming tournament season, which kicks off in October, we will be holding several preparatory meetings. During these sessions, students will have the opportunity to train extensively during the club's weekly meetings, learning how to tackle complex math problems, develop logical reasoning, and engage in out-of-the-box thinking. These skills are crucial for success in the Math Olympiad and beyond.
Just like last year, our students will have the chance to participate in approximately 20 tournaments, including those offered by MOEMS, Perennial Math, and NOETICS. Additionally, there will be opportunities to compete in regional championships, with the potential to compete at the national level.
The registration window is narrow, and the seats are limited, so prompt registration to secure your child's spot is essential to ensure all interested students can join. The flyer is attached. If you are interested in joining the club this year, please register your child(ren). There will be a Parents' Interest Meeting on Friday, September 5th at 7:30 PM to go over the details. All registered families will receive the link to the meeting.
The Willow Springs PTA is sponsoring the Mindful Math Club for current 5th and 6th graders who love challenging math, enjoy working on math puzzles, and finding different solutions to given problems.
Club Activities:
Mathematically designed games, stories, and puzzles Apply math theories to the real world Apply creative solutions to challenging math problems Discuss advanced concepts NOT in the current curriculum No homework!
Registration will open 8/23/24 @ Noon Registration will close 8/29/24 @ Noon Confirmation will be sent by 8/30/23 @ Noon
