Churchill Chatter - Issue 1, August 26, 2024
Welcome Back!
Welcome to our new families, families from Franklin Sherman, and returning Bobcats to a new and exciting school year! It was wonderful to see so many parents at Open House and Back to School Night this year. All of your children seem excited to be in school and eager to learn. We appreciate your support in preparing your child for the school year.
As you know Ms. Niccolls retired over the summer. We sent her off with a wonderful lunch on her last day, and she is enjoying getting up each day and going for walks! She was so helpful in ensuring we were ready to go for this coming school year. Currently, if you need to reach an administrator, please reach out to Mrs. Pierson-Barr. We will update you in the days to come regarding next steps.
During this year, we are focused on using our outdoor spaces and already some of our staff have had students outside learning. Below you will find photos from 6th grade teacher, Ms. Morales, who took her students out to write this week. During teacher work week, our staff went on a scavenger hunt to find all the places on our property to engage students in learning! We even found a time capsule. Do you know where that is?
Please be sure to read all of the information our fabulous PTA has put together regarding upcoming events and our many volunteer opportunities. We are combining our newsletter this year so you have all information in one spot, every other week.
Thank you so much for your partnership as we start this school year. It has been a wonderful week.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Pierson-Barr

Labor Day Holiday August 30 & September 2
Friday, August 30, and Monday, September 2, are Labor Day holidays for all FCPS employees and students. Virginia legislation requires that schools opening prior to Labor Day must be closed the Friday immediately preceding Labor Day. We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends. See the complete school year calendar.
