Principal's Message

Dear Terraset Families,

We are having a fantastic second week of school!  The smiles on everyone’s faces has brought our building back to joyful life following the summer break.  We are grateful to have strong connections and partnerships with our students, families, staff, and community.  We are excited about all the possibilities that this year holds.

As you know, FCPS has designated seven Mondays throughout the year as 3 hour early release days:  September 23, October 28, December 9 (new date to replace November 25), February 24, March 17, April 28, and May 19.

As we approach the first date, we expect our Tigers to follow their regular routes home.  To ensure their safety please complete this survey for each child as soon as possible, if you have not already done so.  Students that require supervision due to hardship will be supervised by staff to complete homework, STMath, Lexia, MyOn, independent reading, and other similar tasks.  Teachers will be involved in required professional development and will not be working with students during this time.  Your response(s) is essential in helping us move forward smoothly.

Thank you for all of your support and helping us have such a successful start to the year!

Warmly,

Katie Aldridge, Principal

Dave Ickowski, Assistant Principal

📚Back to School Night

Terraset will host our Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 11 at 6 p.m.

Classroom teachers are looking forward to sharing more information about the grade-level curriculum and classroom routines/procedures.

🆕Attendance in ParentVUE

Parents can submit daylong absences through SIS ParentVUE. Log in and click “Report Absence.” Note: Partial day absences and changes of transportation should still be reported directly to the school front office. View directions for how to report your child's absence in ParentVUE here.

🚌Transportation Patience and Safety

Thank you for your patience as we all get used to new routines this school year. We appreciate our families following safe Kiss and Ride procedures and being patient while waiting for the bus.

If your child’s bus is delayed, you may access the Bus Delay Notification System or use the Here Comes the Bus mobile app to receive the delayed bus report. Email messages will be sent to announce significant bus delays. Please contact the Transportation Office at 703-249-7100 with any additional questions. For concerns after 5:30 p.m., contact Safety and Security at 571-423-2000.

Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE to make sure you receive email messages about bus delays.

💊Student Medications

If your student requires medication during the school day,  medications can be brought to the health room during school hours. Elementary students are not permitted to transport medication in backpacks. Please click here for necessary medication forms.

🩺Student Health Conditions

If your student has any health conditions that may affect his/her school day, please fill out the Health Information Form (SS/SE 71) on paper and return to school or electronically in SIS ParentVUE.

🚑Emergency Care Card

Please make sure your student's emergency care card (SS/SE 3) is updated for this year. It is important that we have updated information to be able to contact you in case of emergency or transportation issues on the first day.

🗓️Labor Day

Friday, August 30, and Monday, September 2, are Labor Day holidays for all FCPS employees and students. Virginia legislation requires that schools opening prior to Labor Day must be closed the Friday immediately preceding Labor Day. We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends. See the complete school year calendar.

🏕️Join Cub Scout Pack 32!

Cub Scouting helps elementary-age kids build self-confidence, academic and interpersonal skills, leadership skills, citizenship skills, and gain valuable community service experience. Our school's pack is open to all genders, and is a great way to develop lasting friendships in the Terraset Community (and beyond!).

To learn more about membership, stop by our Join Scouting Night (adults and kids are welcome):
