First Graders in Ms. Mejia's class are learning to be good digital citizens!

What's Happening Mount Eagle

August 30, 2024

All around our building, students are mastering routines and building strong classroom communities.  They are engaging in lessons around being good digital citizens before laptops are distributed to students in classroom, sharing hopes and dreams, and making rules for their classroom communities. We are off to a fabulous start!

Our community bid a fond farewell to Mr. Larry Jones, Interim Principal, yesterday.  Mr. Jones has been a calm and supportive member of our community through a busy time of transition.  We are so grateful to have had him here, and welcome him back any time!

Ms. Leeanne Pinski, our new assistant principal, will join our team on Tuesday, September 3.  Ms. Pinski has been serving as assistant principal at Franconia ES for the past seven years.  We are so excited to welcome her to Mount Eagle and can't wait to learn with and from her.

Have a safe and fun holiday weekend!  We will see everyone back on Tuesday!

2024 Student Rights and Responsibilities

FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities document (SR&R) explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. Read Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid’s letter to families regarding the SR&R

Parents/caregivers should talk to their child(ren) about expectations for this school year. Also, please log in to SIS ParentVUE and sign to acknowledge your review of the SR&R, or sign and return the signature sheet to your child’s school by Monday, September 30

You can submit questions online regarding the SR&R.

Learn about the Fairfax County School Board

The 12 School Board members are elected for four-year terms; one member represents each of the County’s nine magisterial districts, and three members serve at large. The current School Board term began January 1, 2024 and ends December 31, 2027. A student representative, selected for a one-year term by the Student Advisory Council, sits with the Board at all public meetings and participates in discussions, but does not vote.

Learning about your local school board is important. They make decisions that directly affect the quality of education and resources available to students and staff in Fairfax County. Understanding their policies and initiatives can help you advocate for positive changes and ensure that the educational needs of all students are met. And they want to heard from you. To find out who your local school board members are, you can visit the county's website.
