Dear Mighty Red Bird Families,
We are thrilled to share that the school year is off to a fantastic start! Our students have shown remarkable kindness, enthusiasm, and readiness to learn from day one. It's truly heartwarming to see the excitement in their eyes as they engage in new experiences and challenges. We are so proud of the positive energy that fills our classrooms and hallways each day.
Our dedicated teachers are working diligently to build strong relationships with their students and establish routines that foster a positive and productive learning environment. This week, our teachers are meeting as collaborative teams to establish their norms and working agreements. This collaborative effort ensures that our teaching teams are grounded in their shared goals and focused on maximizing student learning throughout the year.
We kindly ask that you take a moment to read the important notes below regarding our arrival and dismissal procedures. We deeply appreciate your patience and flexibility as we continue to make adjustments to ensure a safe and smooth process for everyone. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to make this school year a success!
Warm Regards,
Ms. Drake, Mrs. Agner, Mrs. Long

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Thank you for your patience as we work together to make sure we have a safe beginning and ending to our day! Please continue to keep the bus loop clear at all times including during arrival, dismissal, and throughout the day. If you are coming to school during the day, please park in a designated spot. We ask that any students leaving for early dismissal be picked up by 3:00 PM.
Please watch the video to fully understand how our dismissal works for Kiss and Ride and refer to the photos of where your students will be released if they are walkers. (Mr. Hirsch makes a cameo appearance in this video. 😊)

Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights
Fairfax County Public Schools wants all parents and caregivers to understand its policies regarding surveys, records, curriculum, privacy, and related rights.
In its Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms (Annual Notice), FCPS provides explanations of the rights listed above as well as forms that may be used to exercise opt-out choices. Two versions of the Annual Notice are available: a grades K-8 version and a grades 9-12 version. Parents/caregivers with children at different grade levels should read each applicable version of the Annual Notice, because the notices and opt-out rights vary depending on the student’s grade level.
Get more information and view the 2024-25 Opt-Out Booklets.
Update Your Child’s Immunizations and Records
Please check with your healthcare provider as soon as possible to make sure your child is up-to-date on the immunizations required by the state of Virginia. Starting Monday, September 30, students who have not provided proof of immunization will not be allowed to attend school.
You can check your child’s immunization compliance and submit their immunization record in SIS ParentVUE. Records may also be delivered to a school’s front office.
If your child needs a vaccine, please make an appointment with your healthcare provider, visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a list of child immunization clinics, or access other local services. If needed, families may also provide other immunization documentation including a healthcare provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption or a notarized Religious Exemption Form.
Find more information on immunizations on the FCPS website.
