Students are creating memories during the first week of school!

Notes from the Administration

f

Dear CWES Families,

What a fantastic first week of school we had! It is so wonderful to have our students back. Students are busy learning routines and building relationships with their teachers and making new friends.

We are thrilled to see the excitement and enthusiasm in our students as they embark on this new academic year. We appreciate the support of our parents and guardians and look forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and success.

Please join us for Back to School Night on Thursday, September 5th. We will host a welcome session in the gym, our teachers will be presenting sessions, you can meet our specialists, and hear important FCPS information on what to expect this school year. Immediately following the second session, please join us for our first PTA meeting of the year. There will be two sessions to allow parents to attend multiple classrooms if needed. Session 2 will be a repeat of Session 1. We look forward to seeing you!

6:00-6:20PM - Meet our Admin and Specialist team, hear an overview in the gym
6:30-6:55PM - Session 1
7:00-7:25 PM - Session 2 (will be a repeat of session 1)
7:30PM- PTA meeting in the cafeteria

Have a wonderful weekend,

Leslie Malkowski, Kristi McGeehan, and Mindy Milliron

Family Book Club

CWES invites you to our school-wide book club! Come read and experience stories from diverse perspectives and diverse characters. These universal themes will help show how CWES loves our community! The fall book club theme is “CWES loves music” and will meet on Thursday, October 17th at 8:15 am in the library and/or art room.

Students and families can choose one of the 2 books selected for each club meeting. Families are encouraged to read the books alongside their students. An adult must be in attendance with their student. Please use the link to sign up and learn more about our books for our upcoming book club: CWES Family Book Club - Fall 2024.

Please contact Mona Mouneimne (mmmouneimne@fcps.edu) if you have any questions.”

Lightspeed

  • 🔍 Lightspeed Parent Report on Child’s Device Activity

FCPS has tools to help parents know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided at no cost to families by Lightspeed, the school division’s internet content filtering service.

Parents may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites their child visited. The report also offers parents the ability to sign up for free access to the Internet Use Parent Portal. Through the portal, parents may pause their child’s access to the internet on their FCPS device during non-school hours.

FCPS CARES

FCPS Cares

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees.
