What is a family liaison?
A family liaison is a school support staff that connects parents to resources needed between home and school to further students' academic and social success. This position plays a vital role to further increase parental involvement within the school and it's community. Parents can also connect with their family liaison to obtain guidance regarding community events and school activities.
Who is your family liaison?
Welcome to Haycock Elementary School. I wanted to introduce myself—my name is Paulette Farmakides and I am your family liaison. I am fortunate to live in the Haycock neighborhood as well as having two daughters graduate from Haycock Elementary, Longfellow Middle, and McLean High Schools. I currently have a son enrolled in third grade here at Haycock. As family liaison, I will serve as the bridge between our school, the community and your home. I work as part of the Haycock team to ensure your child’s academic success. I have enjoyed meeting many families and want to take this opportunity to welcome our new Haycock families.
This year, we have over 100 of these new families joining our wonderful school! Over the next few weeks, I will be reaching out to our new families. Parent involvement is needed at any school and at any level for our students to be successful—the goal for our students here is to obtain a higher level of education. Parents who are involved have children who achieve! I will be a resource for you. If you have any questions or need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me; new families or existing. This is going to be a great year! My direct line is 703-531-4001 and email is pfarmakides@fcps.edu
"Students experience greater success in school when the adults who care for them and help them learn and grow have a collaborative relationship that allows them to welcome and value one another's questions, ideas, and thoughts." --Jane Cofie, Strengthening the Parent-Teacher Partnership
