Kilmer Center School Tiger Tales
From The Principal
Dear Families,
We are very excited for this school year and so happy to see your children! We will continue to focus on student learning this year. To help us achieve this goal, we will use the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to ensure students have multiple options to access their learning and opportunities for practice. In addition, we will be a Professional Learning Community (PLC) with a focus on student results through collective inquiry and emphases on results. I am thrilled to share that through the amazing work of our Leadership Council, we will ANCHOR our work in explicit instruction to ensure our students advance in Reading, Communication and being Positive Community Members. I am so proud of the intentional preparation from our staff and this ANCHOR will keep us on course. As I stated to staff during my opening last week, we need to focus on student learning and the acquisition of skills that will impact students lives in positive and sustained ways. This means that we need to teach with intention and that instruction is engaging, relevant and meaningful.
Thank you all for being your child’s first teacher. Haley, the entire Kilmer Center School staff and I look forward to our continued partnership. It is an honor and privilege for us to serve your children.
Respectfully,
Hoang H. Nguyen
Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights
Fairfax County Public Schools wants all parents and caregivers to understand its policies regarding surveys, records, curriculum, privacy, and related rights.
In its Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms (Annual Notice), FCPS provides explanations of the rights listed above as well as forms that may be used to exercise opt-out choices. Two versions of the Annual Notice are available: a grades K-8 version and a grades 9-12 version. Parents/caregivers with children at different grade levels should read each applicable version of the Annual Notice, because the notices and opt-out rights vary depending on the student’s grade level.
