Planting Seeds, Growing Minds

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year

Let’s plant the seeds of success together! Welcome to a new school year, where together we will watch your children bloom and grow. Just like a garden, our school thrives when we work together to nurture each student’s unique talents. We’re excited to cultivate a love for learning and see our students blossom in every way.

Kings Park ES bell schedule is 8:40am- 3:25pm. Please see the map that illustrates students arrival and dismissal. Our school doors will open at 8:30am.

A big thank you to all families for helping keep our walkers safe by parking in the neighborhood and walking their students to the assigned entrances. Due to the expanded size of our staff, the side lot by the large playground will be reserved for staff parking. As a reminder the bus loop entrance is closed during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for being an essential part of our school community!

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow

The beginning of the school year is the best time to develop strong attendance habits! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well in reading and math, develop strong social and emotional skills, and graduate from high school on time. Help prepare your child for future success. Visit FCPS’ Attendance webpage for tips and strategies.

Mrs. Donahue, Mrs. Kaplan and Mrs. Lin were able to be visit all classrooms yesterday to share the joy of the new year and their excitement to see each student present on the first day of school. Kings Park ES Attendance Matters bands were given to each student as a first day surprise.

Thank you for making your child's attendance a priority.

Sincerely,

Dotty Lin

PTA News

Join the PTA.  We hope all members of the KP/KG community will consider joining the PTA this school year.  Being a PTA member has numerous benefits --  it's a great way to meet new friends and become more involved in your child's school and community.  Join on our website!  Our first meeting where we will be approving our budget is coming up on September 5th at Kings Park at 6:30pm.  A virtual option to participate will be available as well.

Want to help with KP/KG PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year?  The Booster program starts on September 11th and finishes on September 20, 2024 with the Fun Run.  Mark your calendars and reach out to Sarah Maccubbin-Tremper at vpfund@kpkgpta.org if you want to be involved!

Thanks to all those that stopped by for a cool treat at Sweet Frog last week.  Our next Spirit Night is coming up on September 10th at Taco Bamba (10629 Braddock Rd).  Mention code GIVE20 and 20% of the proceeds will go back to the schools.  More information.

Our popular PTA Ice Cream Social and Resource Fair will be held at Kings Glen on September 13th at 6:30 pm.  More information can be found here!

Keep in Touch with the PTA.  A great way to keep in touch with the PTA is to subscribe to our emails and/or join our Facebook group.  An updated PTA events calendar can also be found here.  We will be starting our monthly newsletter in September, which is a great resource to find out more about the PTA.  Reach out to board@kpkgpta.org if you have any questions.

Volunteer with the PTA.  Volunteering is certainly not a requirement of joining the PTA, but we are always looking for more help!  We are looking for some volunteer leads for various positions throughout the year.  Check out our openings here.  Alternatively, fill out the form on this page to let us know how you can help!

Information on after school activities will be coming out soon. Please sign up to our mailing list for updates.
