To our returning families, we will continue to partner with you! Let's make it a great year!

Dear CRES Community,

Welcome to the new school year! We are excited to begin this journey with you and your children. The first day of school is a special time, and we are committed to ensuring every student feels supported and ready to learn.

Supporting Your Child’s Success

Your involvement is crucial to your child’s education. Here’s how you can help:

  1. Daily Attendance: Consistent attendance is key to academic success. Every school day matters, so please help your child make attendance a priority.

  2. Positive Routines: Establish morning and evening routines to help your child start each day prepared. A good night’s sleep can make a big difference!

  3. Stay Connected: Keep in touch with your child’s teacher and stay informed about classroom happenings. Communication is essential.

  4. Follow Us on Social Media: Stay updated on the amazing things happening at Centre Ridge by following us on social media: X and InstagRAM. It is a great way to stay connected with our community.

We Are Here for You!

The staff at Centre Ridge is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where every child can thrive. Together, let’s make this a fantastic year of growth and learning.

Thank you for your continued partnership. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead!

Warmly,

Dr. Hertzberg, Ms. Baugh, Ms. Sutton, Ms. Helmer, and Ms. Ford

Centre Ridge Kiss & Ride Procedures

Kiss and Ride map

The Kiss & Ride lane is designed to expedite student drop off in the morning and student pick up in the afternoon.  Please review these procedures to ensure our students arrive and depart from school safely. Thank you!

Procedures

  • Students arrive at 8:30 am.
  • Dismissal begins at 3:25. Students may not arrive at the Kiss & Ride line until around 3:30 during the first few days. Thank you for your patience!
  • Clearly display your Kiss & Ride number on the dashboard or visor.
  • If your child needs assistance carrying something inside or getting something out of the car, please park and walk your child into the building.
  • Drop off and pick up your child only in the Kiss and Ride Unloading Zone.
  • Pull your car forward as far as possible in the line.
  • Children will load and unload from the passenger side of the car only so that they do not cross in front of the carpool cars.
  • Drivers must remain in the car.
  • Cars must stay in a single file line as they move to and from the Kiss & Ride area.  For the safety of the children, no passing will be permitted in the Kiss & Ride area unless a staff member signals for you to move safely.
  • Inclement weather presents an added safety concern for children who are privately transported.  Extreme caution is necessary when rain or snow is evident.

school supplies

Please Purchase: School Supplies

Every player needs the right equipment to succeed on the field and in their education!

Due to the demands placed on our school budget this year, we kindly request that parents and caregivers purchase the school supplies listed for their child's grade level. We will continue to purchase many additional supplies for all students, as well.

If possible, please bring these supplies when you meet the teacher on August 16th.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

📵 Phones Down, Engagement Up: FCPS Cell Phone Policy

Keeping cell phones off during the school day helps students focus and learn. It also boosts positive social behavior. Review FCPS’ cell phone expectations by grade level with your child and help keep our classrooms free of distractions! This includes Smart Watches. If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call our main office at (703) 227-2600.

What Is a School Board?

The Fairfax County School Board is responsible for running the public schools in Fairfax County. Twelve School Board members are elected by county voters every four years.

A student representative serves on the board as a non-voting member. They are chosen by their peers each year.

The School Board makes general rules and sets guidelines to ensure Fairfax County Public Schools runs properly. They follow the laws of Virginia and the rules set by the Virginia Board of Education.

Learning about your local School Board is important. Understanding their policies and initiatives can help you advocate for positive changes and ensure that the educational needs of all students are met. There are many ways to get involved.

Learn more about the School Board, how to participate in their meetings, and where to watch their meetings.

Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights

Fairfax County Public Schools wants all parents and caregivers to understand its policies regarding surveys, records, curriculum, privacy, and related rights.

In its Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms (Annual Notice), FCPS provides explanations of the rights listed above as well as forms that may be used to exercise opt-out choices. Two versions of the Annual Notice are available: a grades K-8 version and a grades 9-12 version. Parents/caregivers with children at different grade levels should read each applicable version of the Annual Notice, because the notices and opt-out rights vary depending on the student’s grade level.

Get more information and view the 2024-25 Opt-Out Booklets.

Update Your Child’s Immunizations and Records

Please check with your healthcare provider as soon as possible to make sure your child is up-to-date on the immunizations required by the state of Virginia. Starting Monday, September 30th, students who have not provided proof of immunization will not be allowed to attend school.

You can check your child’s immunization compliance and submit their immunization record in SIS ParentVUE. Records may also be delivered to a school’s front office.

If your child needs a vaccine, please make an appointment with your healthcare provider, visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a list of child immunization clinics, or access other local services. If needed, families may also provide other immunization documentation including a healthcare provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption or a notarized Religious Exemption Form.

Find more information on immunizations on the FCPS website.
