First Day of School Monday, August 19, is the first day of school. See the complete school year calendar. Itās the most wonderful time of the year Hornet Nation!Ā Your Halley teachers and staff have been prepping and eagerly awaiting for the first day of school!
It was lovely seeing the smiling faces of our students as they walked the hallways of Halley greeting old friends, meeting new teachers, and previewing their new classroom.
As Halleyās new principal, this school year you can anticipate each member of your childās support team to go the distance with wellness, achievement, and connection.Ā At Halley, we believe in supporting the whole child to meet their individual needs.Ā Throughout the year we ask all our parents to work collaboratively with us to ensure we meet this goal.Ā I am eager to bring parentsā voices to the table as we work as a partnership to make the Halley community one of excellence and success.Ā We know we canā¦itās just going to take some hard work and effort.
Please read the entirety of this first edition of the 2024-2025 Hornet Happenings for pertinent information that will ensure a successful start to the school year.

Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights
Fairfax County Public Schools wants all parents and caregivers to understand its policies regarding surveys, records, curriculum, privacy, and related rights.
In its Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms (Annual Notice), FCPS provides explanations of the rights listed above as well as forms that may be used to exercise opt-out choices. Two versions of the Annual Notice are available: a grades K-8 version and a grades 9-12 version. Parents/caregivers with children at different grade levels should read each applicable version of the Annual Notice, because the notices and opt-out rights vary depending on the studentās grade level.
