Dear Mighty Red Bird Families,
It's been a fantastic start to the new school year! We've loved welcoming back our students and families and seeing everyone settle into the routine. The first week back was filled with learning, collaboration, and positive interactions.
We're thrilled to witness the friendships being formed and renewed, both old and new. It's clear that our focus on building a strong sense of community is paying off. We can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Together, we're creating an amazing learning environment where our students can thrive. Here's to an incredible year ahead!

🚌🚗🚶🏽♂️Arrival and Dismissal
Thank you, Cardinal Forest Community, for your cooperation as we work together to ensure our students get to and from school safely each day. Please remember to use the designated crosswalks when crossing the street. We would also like to remind parents and caregivers using Kiss and Ride for drop off and pick up to refrain from holding their phones while driving. Your continued support makes a world of difference in keeping our children safe.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Starting in kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
- Missing 10 percent (or about 2 days per month) can make it harder to learn to read.
- Students can still fall behind if they miss just a day every few weeks.
- Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
- Absences can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Set a regular bed time and morning routine.
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- Find out what day school starts and make sure your child has the required shots.
- Introduce your child to her teachers and classmates before school starts to help her transition.
- Don’t let your child stay home unless she is truly sick. Keep in mind complaints of a stomachache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.
- If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make her feel comfortable and excited about learning.
- Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
- Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session.
Submitting Attendance
Daylong absences need to be submitted through SIS ParentVUE. Log in to the platform and click “Report Absence.” If your child is going to be Tardy, report it as an absence in SIS ParentVUE with a note that indicates the child will be arriving late. The absence will be updated upon arrival.
Note: Changes of transportation should still be reported directly to your school’s front office.
Student Rights and Responsibilities
2024-25 Student Rights and Responsibilities: A Guide for Families (PDF) explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable and supportive school environment.
Parent/Guardian Signature Sheet
Please log on to your SIS ParentVUE account and sign to acknowledge review of this document OR sign and return the Signature Sheet to your child’s teacher by September 30, 2024.
