Open House

Dear Bailey’s ES Families,

It was wonderful seeing everyone who came to our Open House yesterday!  We hope you had a great visit with your child’s new teacher!

We are excited to see everyone on Monday, August 19th for the first day of school at Bailey’s Elementary. Our staff is eager to welcome your children back and start the year off on a positive and engaging note.

On the first day of school, we invite you to walk your child to their classroom. We understand that this can be a special moment for both you and your child, and we want to ensure a smooth and comforting transition. Our staff will be on hand to assist and make this experience as enjoyable as possible.

After the first day, we kindly ask that you allow your child to enter the building independently to help foster their independence and confidence.

As we begin the new school year, please remember that our doors are always open. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way. If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to say hello, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We are committed to working with you to make this year a memorable one filled with achievements, new friendships, and joyful experiences.

Have a wonderful weekend!  We’ll see you on Monday!

Bell Schedule

Kiss and Ride

We know that many of our families will use Kiss & Ride for both arrival and dismissal. We appreciate your patience as our staff works to help your children each morning and afternoon.  Here are a few tips that can make things run smoothly:

  • Staff members will greet students in the “Kiss and Ride” line starting at 8:50 a.m. and ending at 9:00 a.m.
  • Have your child sit on the right-hand passenger side and always exit on the right.  Please practice this routine with your child.
  • After 9:00 a.m., parents must park and walk students inside the building to the office for a tardy pass.
  • Kiss and Ride pick-up runs from 3:35 p.m. to 3:55 p.m.  Anyone picking up after 3:55 p.m. will need to go to the office to pick up students.  They need to be listed on the emergency care card and have a valid ID.
  • Parents should stay in their cars during arrival and dismissal.  There will be plenty of adults available to help children get in and out of cars.

During the first week of school, we keep Kiss and Ride open later to support families as they adjust to the Kiss and Ride routines. We appreciate your patience as we work out the kinks.

Early Release Mondays

Providing an excellent education to all students and meeting individual student needs requires appropriate planning time for teachers. This means teachers need a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with peers.

With that in mind, FCPS has developed a divisionwide plan for seven three-hour early release days (Mondays) for elementary students in the 2024-25 school year. Different elementary schools have different Early Release Monday dates.

Bailey’s ES will have seven 3-hour early release days on the dates listed below.  Dismissal on these dates will begin at 12:45 p.m

  • September 16
  • October 21
  • November 18
  • February 10
  • March 10
  • April 21
  • May 12

To help plan for our school’s child care needs during the early release Mondays, please complete this form: https://forms.gle/qMureCQicM2R4zKm6 for each of your children who are enrolled at Bailey’s. The form covers the first two early release Mondays, scheduled for September 16, 2024 and October 21, 2024. If you have multiple children, you will need to submit multiple forms. Staff will confirm the after school supervision plan for each student. This form was also sent to the email address we have on file.  Please complete the form by Friday, August 24th.

Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Program

As we prepare for the upcoming school year at Bailey’s, we will continue to be a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school. Through this program, all students at Bailey’s ES are eligible to receive no-cost breakfast and lunch throughout the school year, regardless of their family's income.

More CEP Information:

  • CEP is a USDA program that ensures every student at Bailey’s is provided a nutritious meal for breakfast and lunch each day at no charge.
  • Meal service is the same at CEP schools and non-CEP schools; a la carte items are still offered.
  • Only breakfast and lunch meals provided through the CEP program will be free. A la carte items such as milk, juice, or water and second entrees will be available for purchase  Prices for a la carte items can be found here.

Update Immunizations and Records

Immunizations are required for all students to attend school in Virginia. This is an important part of protecting them from certain diseases and keeping them healthy. Please log in to SIS ParentVUE to see what immunizations your child has recorded.

Please check with your healthcare provider to make sure your child is up-to-date on the immunizations required by the state of Virginia as soon as possible. If your child needs a vaccine, please make an appointment with your healthcare provider, visit the Fairfax County Health Department website for a list of child immunization clinics, or access other local services.

Remember to request your child’s immunization record and bring that to the school’s front office or submit the record via SIS ParentVUE as soon as possible. Find more information on FCPS’ website.

Update Your Contact Information

To be sure you receive important information from your schools, update your phone numbers and/or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section of SIS ParentVUE.

  • Days marked in pink are holidays for students, but working days for teachers and staff.

Note: Some holidays and observances, such as Eid al-Fitr, may shift and the calendar may be adjusted.
