Message from Mr. Greata

Woodson Families,

We are just days away from the first day of school, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome our incredible Cavaliers back! It was so good to have many students and families join us for our orientations and our Cav Kickoff. This year is going to be filled with countless positive experiences, and we’re eager to witness the remarkable growth and achievements that will unfold. We’re going to get started early on Monday.

SENIORS - Join us at 6:00 AM on the first day of school for SENIOR SUNRISE! We will be gathering on the field between the tennis courts and the stadium. With graduation set for June 10th, we have only 298 days until you cross that stage.  Let’s get this year off to a bright start!

I want to keep this Weekly focused on providing you with the most essential information you need for the first day of school. Please review the list below to ensure everything is ready to go for day 1.

    • Arrival - Students should arrive each day to school no earlier that 7:30 am
    • Back to School Cavalier Kit - Includes important Kiss n’ Ride and student parking pass information.  We have also updated our lunch guidelines and schedule so students know which lunch they will have each day.
    • Student Information - Look at ParentVue (Need access?) and StudentVUE where you will find your student’s class schedule, bus information, and locker information. NEW THIS YEAR, you will also be able to fill out any required forms and report absences!
    • Laptop Distribution - We want to thank all the students that have already picked up their laptop. Students that have not picked up their laptop will receive it either through PE classes, or social studies classes on the first two days of school.
    • Medication Drop Off - If you have medications to drop off for the school year, please bring them to the main office.

Enjoy the last weekend of summer and we can't wait to greet you on Monday!

Have a great weekend!

Kevin Greata
Principal

Student Chromebook

If your student was not able to pick up their chromebook during our distribution days, they will receive it in either their PE class or Social Studies class the first two days of school.

If your student retained their school issued laptop this summer, they will continue to use that laptop for the 2024-2025 school year. They will not receive a new one.

If you have questions, please contact our Woodson Tech Team at woodsontechteam@fcps.edu

Digital Consent Form

In order for students to be able to access all digital resources on their school issued laptops starting Monday, parents must complete the Digital Resources Consent Form. Information on how to access the form can be found below.

Starting August 1, 2024, student consent forms currently on ParentVUE will be moved to the Parent Digital Consent System (PDC).

Families can log in to the PDC using their ParentVUE credentials to complete consent forms assigned to their child. School staff will have access to view consent status and edit consent with permission from the family.

Forms available in the PDC starting in the 2024-2025 school year include:

  • School Counseling Opt-Out
  • Digital Resources Consent
  • SEL Screener Opt-Out
  • Consent for Release of Student Records in Support of Postsecondary Applications
  • Denial of Access to Military Recruiters
  • Family Life Education Opt-Out
  • SOL Retest Permission
  • Hazel Health
  • BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Opt-Out
  • SOS Screener Opt-Out
  • Objection to Release of Information to Outside Organizations
  • Objection to Release of Directory Information to the Public

As FCPS updates the PDC, more district-wide forms will be added.

Order Your PE Uniforms Now

You may purchase Woodson PE uniforms by visiting our school store. This will be the last chance to order PE uniforms for the 24-25 school year. The ordering window will close at 11:59am on Tuesday, August 27th, and items will be delivered by September 13th.

Student Parking Passes

Parking passes for the 2024-25 school year will be available for purchase starting the first week of school. We will send out an e-notify message next week with final details. For planning purposes, the cost for a full-year parking pass is $200.00.

During the first week of school, students can park in student designated parking spots on a first come first serve basis. Even though parking citations will not begin until Tuesday, September 3rd, if a student parks in staff designated areas they will be ticketed.

Opt-Out Annual Notice

Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights

Fairfax County Public Schools wants all parents and caregivers to understand its policies regarding surveys, records, curriculum, privacy, and related rights.

In its Annual Notice of Survey, Records, Curriculum, Privacy, and Related Rights and Opt-Out Forms (Annual Notice), FCPS provides explanations of the rights listed above as well as forms that may be used to exercise opt-out choices. Two versions of the Annual Notice are available: a grades K-8 version and a grades 9-12 version. Parents/caregivers with children at different grade levels should read each applicable version of the Annual Notice, because the notices and opt-out rights vary depending on the student’s grade level.

Get more information and view the 2024-25 Opt-Out Booklets.
