Hello, Eagle Families!
KJMS Families, we are just 1 day away from EagleFest 2024 (Thursday, August 15th)! We cannot wait to meet you all, so be sure to sign-up for one of four time slots to walk your child’s schedule. Please note: to give our staff the opportunity to have dinner, the building will be closed from 4 PM - 5PM.
This will be a time to meet each of your child’s teachers and to get an initial walkthrough of the school. They do not need to memorize all of their room locations, but it is helpful to visit classes in odd (1,3,5,7,9) and even (1,2,4,6,8) order.

Stay tuned for more information about Back to School Night on September 10th. At this event KJMS educators will answer any questions regarding curriculum and class procedures.
If you cannot attend EagleFest, no worries. KJMS educators are in the halls before school, at every class change, and after school everyday. We know that this is especially important during the first two weeks as students learn the best routes to all of their classes.
How can you help at home?
- Log into SIS StudentVUE or ParentVUE account and become familiar with the app.
- Encourage your child to know the room number for their first period, this class starts everyday.
- Be sure your child knows their bus number and rides the bus to school and from school on the first day. This will help them learn the bus route, time, and their driver. The FCPS Transportation office will be sending bus route information via phone and text starting August 12th. This information will also be in SIS.
- Reassure them that the KJMS team is ready, excited to meet them, and available as needed.
Official schedules will be available in SIS the morning of Thursday, August 15th. If you see an error on your schedule, please use this form rather than sending an email. Errors include:
- Class with wrong grade level
- Missing a period 1-9 or have two classes the same period
- Incorrect placement of a core class (honors).
Elective choices are not guaranteed, unfortunately, some electives are only offered certain periods of the day. If you see an elective you don’t recall selecting, that is not considered an error. The form will also be available during Eagle Fest. Counselors will work on Friday to correct errors with core classes, they may not be able to fix all issues in one day. Students should check their schedule in SIS one more time on Monday morning and plan to follow that schedule until a new one is delivered to them at school. If there are still issues Monday morning, students can connect with their first period teacher on the next steps to resolution. Thank you.
