Principal's Message

Hello Lake Anne Family,

As we count down to the first day of school, we’re thrilled to have you dive into the second edition of the Weekly Wave!

First and foremost, we want to extend a heart a heartfelt thank you to our incredible custodial staff. Their diligent work over the summer has ensured our school is beautiful, safe, and welcoming for the new year. We deeply appreciate each one of them!

We are so excited to see everyone for Open House on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM. Our Dolphin staff are ready to make a splash as they meet and greet all the families and the children they will guide this year. Following, be a part of Lake Anne history as we celebrate the school mural, Water and Warmth, during a ribbon cutting ceremony from 3:00 PM-4:00 PM and then stick around for a sweet treat from our amazing PTA as they host a playground popsicle party! The fun doesn't stop there! After you sign up for the PTA, join us to close out the festivities with our final Summer Beach Book-In and grab some great books to enrich your home library.

We can’t wait to make waves with you this school year!

Mrs. Jill D. Stewart, Principal & Ms. Melanie N. Porter, Assistant Principal

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs. Jill D. Stewart, Principal

Ms. Melanie N. Porter, Assistant Principal

Limited Early Release Mondays for Elementary Schools

To ensure an excellent education and address individual student needs, teachers require dedicated planning time. This includes time for lesson preparation, professional development, and collaboration with colleagues.

In response, FCPS has scheduled seven three-hour early release days (Mondays) for elementary students during the 2024-25 school year.

Early release Mondays are planned for elementary schools in the following pyramids: Herndon, Langley, Madison, Marshall, McLean, South Lakes, Centreville, Chantilly, Fairfax, Oakton, Robinson, and Westfield.

Lake Anne will release at 1:05 PM on these dates:

- September 23

- October 28

- November 25

- February 24

- March 17

- April 28

- May 19

Online Verification Update Packet

The Online Verification Update (OVU) packet allows parents to review and update phone numbers, emergency contacts, and health information (such as health conditions and immunizations) for students in grades PS/HS and kindergarten through 12th grade. The enrolling parent will be able to access OVU through their SIS ParentVUE account.

*The enrolling parent is the natural or adoptive parent or legal guardian with whom the student lives the preponderance of the school week and who enrolled the student in school. (See Regulation 2240) Forms can be located in the Back to School packets and on the General Registration Forms page.

The Online Verification/Update packet has been developed as an optional tool, specifically available to our zoned schools and Thomas Jefferson High School. Parents/Guardians can continue to use traditional paper forms to submit changes to the schools.

The enrolling parent must have an active SIS ParentVUE Account to access and complete the OVU packet.

Parents can obtain an activation key letter to activate their SIS ParentVUE account by contacting their child’s school or by submitting a Parent Support Request form (select “SIS Parent” in the Application dropdown and “Account Activation” from the Inquiry dropdown) for assistance with this process.

Important:  Do not use the OVU packet if your address has changed or if you moved to another FCPS school.  Contact the current school directly to complete address updates or to withdraw and transfer your student to the new school.

Lake Anne Kiss & Ride Numbers

Kiss and Ride (Car Riders) is one option for transportation to and from school. In the morning, families will drop off their child(ren) and staff members will assist by opening car doors and helping students get out of the car. In the afternoon, we utilize a number system to ensure students are safely seated inside until their number is called. Every family who utilizes Kiss and Ride must use a Kiss and Ride Number for pick-up in the afternoon. If you plan to use Kiss and Ride during the 2023-2024 school year, please complete this google form. Families have flexibility in how their children get to and from school. If you plan to use Kiss and Ride this year, even on a periodic basis, please complete the form. Families who used Kiss and Ride last year will still need to sign up and will be given the same Kiss and Ride number as last year for consistency. In the afternoon, families should display their Kiss and Ride numbers in the dashboard of their car.

Kiss and Ride numbers will be available for pick-up during Open House.

What will Families Receive?

  • 4 Kiss and Ride numbers (enough for each vehicle or to replace a lost number)
  • 2 Backpack Tags per Child (1 to place on student backpacks immediately and 1 replacement)

If you have any questions about Kiss & Ride, please contact Brittany Rogers at brogers2@fcps.edu
