It's the New School Uear!

Admin

Pictured are the administrative team members, Rachal Edwards, Caylene Miller, and Chrissy Roehm, getting ready to welcome back the students.

It has been a busy summer at Rose Hill with the summer programs and capital improvement projects. We had an oil tank filled in and HVAC work done but the most notable change that you will likely see is in the office.

Office Make Over

The custodians have been working incredibly hard to get the building ready for our staff and students. The team has to empty each classroom of furniture, then strip and wax the floors. Once this has been completed, the furniture is then either moved to a new classroom or back to its former space. It's so much work! Then there are the details of cleaning the vents, wiping down each student chair and desk, cleaning the walls of the hallways, and the list of to-dos never end. However, they always do it with a smile. We are so appreciative of our custodial team!

Rocket Launch

The Rocket Launch, which the Rose Hill version of an open house is taking place Thursday, August 15th. Students in grades 1-6 are invited to attend anytime between 2:00-3:30. During this time, you'll receive your child's teacher's name and room number. You can drop off your school supplies, meet the teacher, load money into your child's lunch account, etc. We'll also have team members on-hand to help you with any paperwork that needs to be completed online.

Kindergarten students will come at 3:30, when the building is a bit quieter. After seeing the classroom and meeting the teacher, families can enjoy popsicles on the playground and get to know other Kindergarten families.

New Benchmark Curriculum

Volunteer

Pictured above are some of the Rose Hill team members who came in druing their summer break to help unpack and organize the seven palletes of reading materials that were delivered.

As part of our Equitable Access to Literacy plan, FCPS is changing the way we teach reading to our K-6 students! Starting this school year, we will have a new curriculum for Language Arts which will help our students become better readers. Because of this new curriculum, all of our FCPS teachers who help our students learn how to read will have the same high-quality materials and lesson plans. When a student can read well, they do better in all of their classes and are more likely to graduate high school.
