Open House/Meet the Teacher- Save the Date!
Open House will be Thursday, August 15th. Open House is a time where students can bring in school supplies (supplies purchased through the PTA will be in classrooms), see their classroom, and meet their teacher. Kindergarten students are invited to attend between 3:00-4:00 PM. Students in grades 1-6 are invited to visit their classrooms between 4:00-5:30 PM.
New Student Orientation- Save the Date!
 Students new to Ravensworth in grades 1-6 are invited to our New Student Orientation from 3:30-4:00 PM. Join our counselors and other staff members in the cafeteria to learn about our school.
Our Voices, Our Future: Multilingual Learners Summit, Thursday, Aug. 8th
All multilingual learners and their families are invited to attend a summit on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:30 pm at Annandale High School. The summit will be primarily geared for secondary multilingual learners, but all are welcome to attend. The goal of the summit is to foster an environment of empowerment where multilingual students and their families can establish meaningful connections, engage in active listening, and openly share their experiences, cultivating mutual support and a deeper understanding of educational pathways within FCPS.
This event will begin with a table fair showcasing many opportunities available within FCPS and the wider community that support paths to graduation and future careers for students. Additionally, a keynote will be presented by Dr. Jose Luis Zelaya who will share a message about the power of community and resilience. A student panel will dialogue with Dr. Zelaya following the keynote. Refreshments and light food will be served. Language and childcare services will be available. All secondary level multilingual learners have been invited centrally from FCPS via email. Registration is open for students, families, or staff planning to attend.

This school year FCPS elementary schools will have seven early release Mondays. The goal of these days is to provide elementary teachers with additional time to meet new professional development requirements for the Virginia Literacy Act (27 hours of training) and other planning requirements. Learn more about the plan here.

A survey was sent to families on Tuesday, August 6th by Mrs. Aspuria regarding child care needs. Please submit the form by Monday, August 19, 2024.
Ravensworth’s Summer Reading Program
Ravensworth’s Summer Reading Program went home in Wednesday Folders on June 5. All students are encouraged to participate. You may want to consider enrolling your child in the Fairfax County Public Library Summer Reading Program, Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program, and/or the Nothing Bundt Cakes Summer Reading Program. Cool off this summer with a good book!
Fairfax County Hosting Puzzle Hunt
The Solving Fun Puzzle Pals have been hard at work, creating an exhilarating adventure for puzzle solvers. We are thrilled to announce the Fairfax County Puzzle Hunt, a unique community event that will take you on a journey to the wonderful parks in Fairfax County. Starting this summer, solve one puzzle or do them all. Puzzles are filled with creative thinking, logic, and wordplay. They are designed to be challenging and accessible for all skill levels. Solve the puzzles and then find clues at the parks for a final meta-puzzle. Walk, bike, and roll at our wonderful local parks with friends and family.
