Gator Bytes: News and General Information for Kings Glen ES

Dr. Christine Ritter, Principal

A Message from Principal Ritter

Dear Kings Glen Families,

Nothing is more exciting than the beginning of a new school year.  This is the time for a fresh start, discovering new challenges, embracing new friendships, and of course, welcoming new faces!

The entire staff of Kings Glen Elementary School is energized and excited to begin the 2024-2025 School Year!  We've been working hard throughout the summer to prepare for our Gators.  It certainly is exciting to know that the building will be full of children once again, ready to learn and eager to continue their educational journey.  We are committed to supporting each student and family by name and by strength.

Andrew Aversa, Assistant Principal

Welcome, Assistant Principal Andrew Aversa

Mr. Aversa seeks to build a genuine climate and culture of respect, fairness, and consistency.  He believes that kids and young adults everywhere have a desire to learn and be recognized, and encourages the adults in students’ lives to help students find success and overcome challenges.

We are excited to welcome Andrew Aversa to our Gator Nation!

Save the Date - Back to School Night

Thursday, August 22

Back to School Night provides a structured opportunity for parents and guardians to meet with teachers and learn important detailed information about academic outcomes for each subject, expectations for the school year, support for students, communication methods for parents, and more.  There will be two sessions for families who have more than one child at Kings Glen.  The first session will begin no later than 6:15 p.m., and the second session will begin at 7:15 p.m.  You may go directly to your child’s classroom upon arrival.  There will be several staff members throughout the building to assist you.

Beginning at 6 p.m. and between the first session and second session, the Kings Glen specialists (Art, Music, Band, Strings, and PE teachers) will be available for you to meet and answer any questions you may have.

Your Family's App Toolbox

SIS ParentVUE - The SIS ParentVUE Account (Student Information System ParentVUE Account) is the FCPS secure solution for accessing information about your child's attendance, class performance, demographic data, and link to Schoology.

Our Voices, Our Future: Multilingual Learners Summit, Thursday, Aug. 8th

All multilingual learners and their families are invited to attend a summit on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:30 pm at Annandale High School. The summit will be primarily geared for secondary multilingual learners, but all are welcome to attend. The goal of the summit is to foster an environment of empowerment where multilingual students and their families can establish meaningful connections, engage in active listening, and openly share their experiences, cultivating mutual support and a deeper understanding of educational pathways within FCPS.

This event will begin with a table fair showcasing many opportunities available within FCPS and the wider community that support paths to graduation and future careers for students.  Additionally, a keynote will be presented by Dr. Jose Luis Zelaya who will share a message about the power of community and resilience.  A student panel will dialogue with Dr. Zelaya following the keynote.  Refreshments and light food will be served. Language and childcare services will be available.  All secondary level multilingual learners have been invited centrally from FCPS via email.  Registration is open for students, families, or staff planning to attend.
