Principal's Message
Dear Terraset Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! Whether you are returning for another incredible year or are joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as a part of our Tiger Family. At Terraset, we believe in an inclusive, responsive, and supportive learning environment where every student, family, and staff member feels like a valued member of our community. Our tenets are “We see you. We welcome you. You belong here.” This year we will further demonstrate our commitment to these through elevating student voice at Terraset. We look forward to sharing more about this work throughout the year.
As we approach the start of school (coming 8/19!), you are likely wondering about class placements, important dates, and logistics for arrival and dismissal. All of this and much more detailed information for the start of the school year will be coming in next Tuesday’s edition of the Terragram and will be shared at our Open House event on Thursday, August 15th:
- 2:30-3:00pm: Kindergarteners and Students new to Terraset
- 3:00-4:00pm: Grades 1-6
- **Preschool students will hear directly from teachers about their individual Open House days and times.
This fun event is where you will meet your child’s teacher, see our classrooms, and connect with other families and community groups such as our Parent Teacher Organization.
We are looking forward to a great year ahead!

We had many students participate in our summer swim program after summer school! They had a blast in the pool and learned important water safety skills. |
Many students and staff participated in our summer learning programs hosted at Hunters Woods ES. Students practiced skills and extended their learning. We even had some new kindergarteners participate in the Bridge to K program to get ready for Terraset! |

Kindergarten Registration
If you know anyone in your neighborhood who has not yet registered for Kindergarten, please encourage them to reach out to us to get started!

Kindergarten Playdates
All Terraset Kindergarten families are encouraged to attend our playdates sponsored by the PTO to meet new friends and enjoy our great playground together!
- Wednesday, August 7- 5:30-6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 14- 5:30-6:30 p.m.
- Saturday, August 17- 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
PTO officers will be there to answer any questions new families may have about our school and the Kona Ice truck will be there as well with cool treats available for purchase. We hope to see you there!
Early Release Mondays
We wanted to provide a reminder and follow up to the FCPS communication that was sent in June regarding seven three-hour early release Mondays for elementary students in the 24-25 year.
Terraset ES will dismiss at 1:05 pm on the dates below.
- September 23
- October 28
- November 25
- February 24
- March 17
- April 28
- May 19
This time will be utilized for teacher planning time to support students, complete required professional development for the new Virginia Literacy Act, new reading and math standards, and other initiatives.
