Rising Kindergarten Summer Playdates
Kinder Camp - August 8
We are excited for our 2024 Kinder Camp! This is a great opportunity for our Kinder Cubbies to get to know Cub Run, start learning our routines, and to ride a school bus! Spending time with your student before school starts will also help inform our Kindergarten class placement process for the 2024-25 school year.
If you are interested in having your child attend Kinder Camp 2024, please click here to register for Kinder Camp by August 1, 2024. All necessary school registration paperwork must be completed before registering for the camp. To register your child for Kindergarten, please contact our registrar, Ms. Namrata Saxena, at nsaxena@fcps.edu or (703) 633-7500.

Time: 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Cost: Free
Transportation: Families are responsible for bringing their campers and picking them up.
Supplies: Backpack, small snack, and water bottle (can be in a lunchbox or bag labeled with student's name)

Welcome Walk - August 15
We are excited for Cub Run’s annual Welcome Walk! Our Cub Run staff will be coming into the community to meet our families and kick-off the new school year! We will welcome everyone back by making a brief visit to your home on Thursday, August 15 between 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM.
What will this look like? Your student(s) will be welcomed with a short visit at your front door or your front lawn by their new teacher and another Cub Run staff member! We want a chance to say hello, meet you, and answer any questions you may have. All visits will happen between the hours of 8:30-11:30 AM. Please note: Due to planning, scheduling routes and visit times we are unable to provide specific arrival times.
What if we are not available for this visit? If you will be away, busy or prefer to not participate, we will leave a door tag which indicates your child's homeroom teacher. We will be offering another opportunity to meet the teacher and visit classrooms during Open House on Thursday, August 15 from 2:00-3:00 PM. Your child’s teacher will also be posted in your ParentVUE account.

New Family Meet & Greet - August 15
Are you a new family joining us at Cub Run? We are looking forward to welcoming our new Cubbies to the school year!
Our new Cub Run families with students in grades 1-6 are invited to join us for our Meet and Greet/New Family Orientation on Thursday, August 15 at 1:30 PM in our cafeteria. Families will have the opportunity to learn about Cub Run and tour our building in preparation for Open House and our first day of school!

Please visit our school website for a list of school supplies by grade level for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
Limited Early Release Mondays
In June, Dr. Reid shared that Fairfax County Public Schools has developed a division wide plan for seven three-hour elementary early release Mondays starting in September for the 2024-25 school year. These early release days are being planned to support dedicated blocks of time for staff to participate in professional development, lesson planning, and to collaborate with colleagues.
Please mark your calendars for the early release days for Cub Run Elementary. We will release students at 12:25 p.m. on the following dates:
- September 23, October 28, November 25, February 24, March 17, April 28 and May 19

The Cub Run office will be open during the summer from 9:00am to 1:00pm, Monday through Friday.
