Dear Westbriar Families,
I hope you are having a restful summer. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sallie Burch as Westbriar's new principal. I had the pleasure of spending a day with Dr. Burch this past Monday, and she is eager to meet our students, staff, and parents. I have complete confidence that our school is in excellent hands.
In this update, I'd also like to share that Chris Butzer, one of our outstanding assistant principals, has just been appointed the new assistant principal at Luther Jackson Middle School. Ms. Butzer was chosen through a rigorous selection process, reflecting the rarity of administrative openings at the middle school level. As Ms. Butzer strives towards her path to be ready for a principalship, she is excited to gain further administrative experience that will prepare her for it. Ms. Butzer will start her new position on August 1st. Our Region leadership will have a retired administrator serve as interim assistant principal until a replacement has been named.
Please join me in congratulating Ms. Butzer on her new position! We wish her all the best in this exciting new chapter.
Sincerely,
Mary Tam, Principal

Here is a message from Ms. Butzer to our parent community:
I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to the entire Westbriar community for making the last four years so memorable and meaningful. It's with mixed emotions that I share the news of my departure as I have accepted a new position as assistant principal at Jackson Middle School. I have roots in middle school as that is where I started my teaching career, and I truly miss working with middle school aged students. While I am excited about this new opportunity, it's difficult to say goodbye to such an incredible school community. I am going to miss our staff, students, and families. Your support and collaboration have made every day enjoyable and rewarding. I have learned so much from my time here at Westbriar, and I will always cherish the memories we've created together. Westbriar is a very special place, and I will forever be rooting for the community.
Thank you once again for everything. Chris Butzer
