Also, Ms. Brown, currently the Assistant Principal of Timber Lane Elementary School, is an experienced administrator with a track record of leading teams to increasing student academic outcomes. Ms. Brown has found success leading multiple programs in both traditional and alternative settings. Ms. Brown has worked in education for over 18 years on the elementary, middle and high school level and brings a lens that every student should be provided access and opportunity to a rigorous and relevant curriculum. Ms. Brown actively works with staff, families and the school community to eliminate barriers to learning for students and their families.

Ms. Brown began her career as a high school teacher, however, she has since served in numerous capacities including instructional coach, school counselor, department chair and testing coordinator, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the educational landscape. As an administrator, she led the implementation of Multi-Tier Systems; a proactive approach to restorative practices which resulted in a decrease in out-of-school suspensions and chronic absenteeism. Her experiences in Title I programs allowed her to increase parental involvement by improving and increasing relevant communication.

Ms. Brown holds an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Regent University, a Master of Education in School Counseling from Virginia State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Brooklyn College. These academic achievements have equipped Coretta with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively lead and support both students, staff and families.
