A Message From Mrs. Burke

Hello, Edison HS Community,

As we close out this school year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the warm welcome I’ve received since joining this vibrant community. It has been a truly fantastic year, filled with growth, learning, and many memorable moments.

I was thrilled to attend the Cappies last Monday, where our own Porter Bertman was nominated for Best Comedic Actor in a Musical. Seeing all the students dressed up and enjoying the evening was a delight!

We recently celebrated our remarkable staff at the FCPS Honors celebrations. A special congratulations to Cassandra Deedy, our Region 3, Pyramid, and Edison honoree for Outstanding School-Based Professional Employee; JR Jeerakul, our Edison HS and Pyramid honoree for Outstanding New Teacher; Dianne Lewis, our Edison HS honoree for Outstanding School-Based Operational Employee; and Chris Kniesly, our Edison HS and Pyramid honoree for Outstanding Teacher. A big thank you to all the parents who nominated these outstanding individuals.

Please note a change in our upcoming Parent Coffee date—it will now be held on June 21st instead of June 20th. I look forward to continuing our conversations and building stronger community connections.

Over the summer, we will continue sending community messages periodically to update you on upcoming events. I am also pleased to announce that I will be hosting two Parent Coffees over the summer months.

We are excited to host two summer programs here at Edison, ensuring a busy campus even during the break. Additionally, please be aware that we will install a new vestibule in the coming weeks as part of the county’s continued efforts to increase school security. This will affect the entrance to the building through Door 1. Look for signage directing you to an alternate entrance during this period.

I also want to acknowledge the retirement of Mrs. Susan Tyson, our beloved principal's administrative assistant. Her presence will be greatly missed. Meanwhile, we are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Gina D'Angelo from Woodson HS. She brings a wealth of experience and is eager to join our Edison community.

Thank you for a wonderful year. Enjoy a well-deserved summer break, and I look forward to all we will achieve together in the upcoming school year!

School's Out

Farewell 2023-2024 School Year!

We finished up our year today, and the instructional staff is now on leave until mid-August.

Edison is completely closed on Monday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 19.

Beginning Monday, June 24, we will transition to our summer office hours. We will be available in the main office from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. We have very few staff members who work throughout the summer, so we encourage anyone coming in to call in advance at 703-924-8000 or email the appropriate school personnel to set up a meeting.
