Cafeteria Clarification

Dear Haycock Families,

Happy first day of summer break!

I wanted to let you know that School Security personnel were at Haycock on Tuesday due to a kitchen freezer alarm going off.  The cafeteria staff had been cleaning out the freezer as part of the end of year cleaning protocols and the door was inadvertently left ajar.  When School Security called the cafeteria to make sure that there was no emergency, the cafeteria staff did not hear the phone because they were serving lunch at the time.  Since the phone in the cafeteria was not answered, School Security personnel came to Haycock to ensure the safety of all since sometimes that alarm will go off if someone has been trapped in the large freezer.

The reason that I am sharing what was a routine incident is that it has come to my attention that some rumors have circulated about expired food and other such untrue information having to do with the School Security visit on Tuesday.  I am clarifying what happened for your information and understanding.

As always, please reach out to me if you have additional questions or concerns.

Enjoy these summer days.

Sincerely,

Dr. Liz Beaty

Principal
