We hope everyone is off to a great summer so far. Below we have some save the dates for upcoming events including our New Student Scavenger Hunt, Open House and the First Day of School.
In addition, if you are interested in some math resources over the summer, below is a link to ST Math where students can log on and practice various math skills from the previous year.

2024 - 2025 School Calendar
The 2024 - 2025 FCPS School Year Calendar can be accessed here. We encourage families to review the calendar when considering trips or preplanned absences.
Save the Dates for Open House and Back to School Nights
Open House will be held on Friday, August 16th from 9:00 - 10:20 am. This will be an opportunity for students and families to come and meet their teacher, see their classroom and drop off any school supplies.
Back to School Night will be held on August 26th and August 27th. It is an opportunity for families to meet the teacher to learn about expectations, routines, procedures and curriculum for the year.

Kindergarten and New Student Scavenger Hunt
We are delighted to welcome our newest bears to Union Mill. All kindergarteners and students new to Union Mill may come with their families to participate in an informal scavenger hunt on either or both of the following days. Families may choose to come one or both days.

Summer Math Support
If you are looking for ways to support your student’s mathematical learning, FCPS has created a page with a variety of optional resources. You can view them at the link here. ST Math will continue to be available over the summer and ST Math family resources are also linked on the FCPS page.
Fairfax County Public Library Summer Reading Program
Fairfax County Public Libraries offer a wide variety of programs and opportunities over the summer. Here is the link for more information if you are interested in any of the opportunities or to register your child.

Summer Office Hours
The Union Mill Office will be open 9:00 am - 1:00 pm during June and July. Appointments preferred to ensure we have the resources and materials prepared prior to your arrival. Please call 703-322-8500 to make an appointment.

SOL Scores Posted in SIS ParentVUE
Families can find Standards of Learning (SOL) reports for spring testing in the SIS ParentVUE Documents section. Log in to your ParentVUE account to access the following:
- For all students – the official SOL Score Report with overall and reporting category performance for all spring tests.
- For grade 3-8 students – the SOL Growth Parent Report shows performance over time for state reading and math tests completed this school year.
