1. Summer Office Hours
The Woodson Main Office will be open on weekdays from 9:00am-12:00pm in the summer.
The office will be closed on Monday, June 17th, Wednesday, June 19th, Thursday, July 4th, and Friday, July 5th.
If you need to contact an administrator, please visit our Administration webpage.
Registrations
Registrations are by appointment only. Please contact Woodson registrar, Darlene Sheppard at dmsheppard@fcps.edu to schedule an appointment.
Laptops, Chargers, and Tech Support
Laptops and chargers not yet turned in may be returned to the main office during office hours. If you would like for your student to keep these items over the summer and have not yet completed the opt-in form, please complete this form now.
Starting June 20th, the Tech Office (Room A112) will be open for technical assistance, troubleshooting, or device repair needs. The hours of operation will be: M - F 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Monday, April 14th - Friday, April 18th - Spring Break

3. Fall Sport Tryouts
Fall sport tryouts will be here before we know it!
- Golf (First tryout day is August 1st)
- Football (First tryout day is August 5th)
- Field Hockey (First tryout day is August 5th)
- Cheer (First tryout day is August 5th)
- Girls Volleyball (First tryout day is August 5th)
- Boys Volleyball (First tryout day is August 5th)
- Cross Country (First tryout day is August 5th)
In order to tryout for any sports team, students must have the following items submitted and turned in PRIOR to the first day of tryouts:
1) Registered in Activity Registration; submitted by the parent/guardian.
2) Have an updated VHSL Sports Physical turned in to the trainer/Activities Office; Must be dated after May 1, 2024 by a physician.

5. Rising Senior Portrait Dates
It's time for the Class of 2025 to start scheduling formal senior portraits!
Victor O’Neill Studios is Woodson’s official school photographer. Beat the fall rush and get your portraits done early at the school.
Session A is scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2024 and Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be photographed for the yearbook! The required attire for the school’s yearbook pose are traditional Tuxedos and Drapes; provided by us! In addition to the free yearbook session, we also offer sessions that include casual/personality portraits and Cap and Gown portraits.

6. Carter G. Woodson Art Competition
Be a part of Woodson’s historic transition! The Carter G. Woodson Art Competition’s goal is to incorporate the students' art and expressions within Woodson High School’s transition into Carter G. Woodson High School. Artwork submitted will be incorporated into programs, social media, and the school’s decoration.
Prompts:
- Transform: Exhibit the transition from W.T. Woodson to C.G. Woodson in a piece of artwork.
- Unify: Evaluate how Carter G. Woodson has impacted your community in a piece of artwork.
- Empower: Express the achievements of Carter G. Woodson in a piece of artwork.
Art pieces may range in a variety of forms. For more details please view this information document.
Deadline to submit artwork is September 6th, 2024 at 3:00pm.
