Garfield Families:

Excitement is in the air! It’s the last three days of school.  Last week was filled with activity. Field Day was Friday and so much fun, thanks to Mr. Geck, our volunteers, and staff!  Kindergarten sponsored Donuts with Dads and the kindergartners were all smiles.

Students visited their rising grade levels to hear about the grade expectations from current students and meet teachers.

Pre-school ended last week with a promotion celebration which recognized their academic and social growth. Thank you, Ms. Islip, Ms. Simpson and Ms. Wheatley for coordinating the celebration.

Last Monday, I had the pleasure of attending Lewis High School’s graduation ceremony. It was a special event. Not only did we see former Garfield students walk across the stage, we also heard from guest speaker, Jerrick Lewis, the nephew of legendary Congressman John Lewis. It was an inspiring message.

Garfield’s summer office hours will be Monday - Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If you need anything, please call the office at 703-923-2900. Our building will be used this summer for Fairfax County Rec PAC from June 24 – August 4, 2024.

Wednesday is the last day of school, and all FCPS schools dismiss early. Garfield will dismiss at 2:05 PM, and our front office will be closed from 2:30 - 3:30 so that all staff can attend our year-end celebration.

Have a wonderful week.

Sincerely,

Linda Ferguson                Liz Manning                      Larry Jones
