Class of 2024 Tossing their Caps in Celebration!

A Message From Mrs. Burke

Hello, Edison HS Community,

Summer is almost here!

I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2024! Our graduation ceremony this past Wednesday was nothing short of spectacular. It was a joy to see our students walk across the stage, receive their diplomas, and embark on the next chapter of their lives. The pride and excitement in the air were palpable, and I couldn't be prouder of each and every one of our graduates. A thank you to all the faculty, staff, and families who supported our students throughout their high school journey. A special thank you to Kathleen Racek, Cait Saxton, and Ethel Olivares for all their hard work in creating such an amazing ceremony.  Thank you to our student speakers, Kelly Miraya-Mayuri, Tyler Paloma, and Yasmin Idris, for providing us with reflections and connections throughout your speeches.  Thank you to our class of 2025 sponsors, Heather Brueggen and Elizabeth Snyder, who have supported and helped the class throughout their 4 years.

Today, we also celebrate a remarkable milestone for our Global STEM Challenges Program. Our 11th graders have officially completed the program, and I couldn't be more impressed with their dedication, creativity, and perseverance. This program, which began in 2016 as part of an initiative to foster innovation in education, continues to be a cornerstone of our school's commitment to excellence in STEM education. Our students have tackled real-world problems, developed innovative solutions, and demonstrated outstanding teamwork. Congratulations to all of our Global STEM Challenges Program participants on this incredible achievement!

Please join me at our Parent Coffee on Thursday, June 20, at 9 a.m. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect, discuss our school's progress, and share ideas for the future. I look forward to seeing you there!

As we look forward to the summer, I encourage everyone to take some time to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to Edison High School. Together, we make our community strong.

Have a wonderful weekend!

5. Virtual Mental Wellness Consultations

This summer, the FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will offer virtual Mental Wellness Consultations from Monday, June 24, through Friday, August 2. Any FCPS parent or secondary student can schedule a 45-minute consultation with a school psychologist or social worker by phone or videoconference.

Parents of students in any grade level can request a consultation to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social, emotional, and academic success. Information about community resources will also be provided.

Middle or high school students can request a consultation to receive guidance and support for concerns related to anxiety, mood, behavior, peer or family interactions, or school transitions and changes.
