Dear TLES Families,
It has been a SUPER busy week at TLES. This week we celebrated so many events and people! We started the week with our Honors Chorus bringing back the 1st Place AND Best Overall Elementary school trophies from the Honors Chorus Competition! Congratulations to our students, Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Marsh! Honors Chorus is as you know a yearlong privilege for our students. Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Marsh have put in so much time and TLC into these amazing singers and we are thankful for these two amazing specialists. Following this event, we enjoyed the finished product, as our Spring Concert took place on Tuesday. We're sorry we missed that event as many of us were attending this week's feeder high school & personal family graduations.
Next, we celebrated both the Mclean High School and Falls Church High School graduates as they completed their graduation walk around the hallways of TLES. Our students cheered former TLES students as they embark into the next journey of their lives. This is an annual event our students really enjoy, and for us adults, it is amazing to see our former students so grown up!
On Thursday, Mrs. Rieger and Ms. Germain created a SUPER-hero-themed Field Day. The weather turned out to be perfect and the event - from the games to the water slide to the creative activities and designs were SUPERB! Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped us make this event come to fruition, and THANK YOU to Mrs. Rieger and Ms. Germain!
This week we also had some of our grade level Presentations of Learning, PreK's end of year celebration, 3rd grade field trip, Patrols & News Crew Picnic, and our First Grade Market. We LOVE seeing so many of our families in the building and hope you are enjoying these authentic opportunities to celebrate students' growth and accomplishments this year!
Last but not least, we celebrated Mrs. Banford as she was named the Principal of London Towne Elementary School. Congratulations Mrs. Banford! Mrs. Banford will be missed tremendously, but we are so happy knowing that the staff and students of London Towne is getting one of the best!
Next week we will have our 6th Grade Promotion on June 12th at 9:30AM. Our students will take their annual promotion walk around the school at 9:15AM. There will be an Early Dismissal at 1:35PM on our last day, June 12th. As we always do, staff will gather in the bus loop to say our final goodbyes for the school year and send students (and ourselves) off to summer!
We will wrap up our last week with our annual end of year staff gathering. This is a time we get to celebrate our staff's accomplishments, honor those teachers who will be moving on to other opportunities, retirements or relocations, and celebrate TLES!

Congratulations to the Timber Lane Honors Chorus for their incredible performance at Six Flags on Friday! They took home a superior rating with a score of 91, a first-place trophy, and a grand champion trophy for best elementary school ensemble. Both awards will be on display in the glass trophy case in the front lobby. Amazing job, Honors Chorus!
This achievement would not have been possible without our amazing Music Teacher, Ms. Thomas. Ms. Thomas was supported by her wonderful colleague, Ms. Marsh. Thank you, Ms. Thomas & Ms. Marsh!

What an epic day it was! From the slip 'n slide to the carnival relay, our young heroes raced, laughed, and conquered. The water slide was a splash-tastic adventure, and the superhero relay had capes flying and hearts racing.
A huge shoutout to Ms. Rieger & Ms. Germaine for their superhuman efforts in organizing this highlight of the school year. And let’s not forget our incredible families and staff who volunteered to make this day truly awesome!
Until next year, heroes!
TLES Families, we need additional volunteers to ensure our Trader Joes Food Pickup continues throughout summer vacation.

It’s a busy time of year, and we know there are many priorities on families’ plates. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to remember to check your students’ MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Families that earn less than 185% of poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals. However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2024-25 school year will be available this summer.
If families have a current balance and think they may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2023-24 school year. Get more information about free and reduced-price lunch.
