Check out what is happening at Orange Hunt:
We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating our former Orange Hunt students who are graduating this year. Over 70 alumni returned to parade around the school, and our current students cheered them on, joining in the celebration. This tradition is always such a joyful and fun experience.
Kindergarten Registration
We are starting to prepare for the 2024-2025 academic year. Children who will be five (5) years old on or before September 30, 2024, are eligible to attend kindergarten next fall. If you have a child who will attend kindergarten at Orange Hunt next school year, and you have not already been in contact with our registrar Lesley Hite, complete the new student intake form here to start the registration process: Kindergarten Registration
Please spread the word to your neighbors who don’t already have a child at Orange Hunt. Feel free to pass this information along or have neighbors with rising kindergarteners call the office at 703-913-6800 to be added to our kindergarten mailing list. Registration information will be provided to all families who complete and return this intake form. If preferred, you may request a mailed packet of registration forms by calling the office or emailing our registrar.
A child’s record of immunization, physical examination (within 12 months prior to entering kindergarten), proof of residency, and original birth certificate must be submitted when registering the child. For more information regarding kindergarten registration, you may visit the Fairfax County Public Schools’ website
Medicine Pick Up
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student.

Student Device Collection
All FCPS student devices will be collected prior to the end of the school year for inventory and repair over the summer in preparation for the 2024-25 school year. This includes all laptops and power adapters (and laptop sleeves for grades 5-6). Collection will take place during the school day on Thursday & Friday, June 6 & 7. Please make sure your student has their device & power adapter at school and has it ready to turn in. Students participating in FCPS sponsored summer programs will be allowed to keep their devices for these programs. Those devices must be returned to OHES no later than Friday, August 2.
All devices will be scanned into our system upon return and you will receive a return receipt to your child’s FCPS Gmail account. Please help us by noting any known issues/damage to the device by emailing the classroom teacher so a repair ticket can be submitted. This advance notice will help us more quickly address issues as we work to prepare devices for next school year. Lost or damaged laptops and power supplies will need to be paid for in MySchoolBucks per the FCPS Student Device Guidelines. Thank you!

FCPS Cares!
The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees at Orange Hunt ES. We love our OHES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!
Attention OHES Parents!
Being a new parent to a school can be overwhelming. For the upcoming school year, we are launching a New Parent Mentor program. We will be pairing up our seasoned parents with the newly enrolled parents to ease the transition to Orange Hunt Elementary. The new family's grades, the age, etc. (new resident, German Immersion, &/or Military Connected) will be factored when being paired. You will answer any general questions about the school or local area. Please fill out the google form if you interested in sponsoring a new family. Thank you for your consideration.
