PTSO News
Parents! Your help is URGENTLY needed!
The Woodson All Night Grad Party does not have enough chaperones to make the party happen! The Woodson tradition is that freshman, sophomore, and junior parents volunteer at the event to “pay it forward” for the year their own child will graduate.
Please sign up to help us! It’s a really fun night and it can’t happen without you! Coffee and refreshments will be provided to all volunteers!

The All Night Grad Party (formerly known as the Cav Cruise) is an event that was started in Fairfax County to keep graduating seniors safe in a “lock-in” all night, drug and alcohol free event. Since the start of these parties in the 1980s, there have been no student deaths associated with FCPS all night grad parties.
Would you like to volunteer for the 2024-2025 school year PTSO Officer Board?

Varsity Girls Lacrosse:
On Saturday afternoon, the Woodson girls' lacrosse team traveled to Arlington for an electrifying showdown against Yorktown High School in the VHSL Class 6A state quarterfinals. With Yorktown averaging 13-plus goal victories all season, the Cavaliers braced for a tough battle.
In the first quarter, the dynamic draw trio of seniors Greer Dempster, Reese Cuviello, and Julia Lieberman secured several key possessions. This allowed Cuviello to score with a tight crease roll, followed by Dempster sneaking into the middle to net another off a Cuviello assist. Despite their efforts, the Cavs trailed 3-2 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter featured an impressive transition play, with Dempster assisting Lieberman after stellar defensive work and ball movement by senior Julia Oleyar. Cuviello added another smooth crease roll goal, but penalties and Yorktown's 8-meter free positions pushed the opponents to a 9-4 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Cavaliers regrouped and slowly mounted a comeback, bolstered by a tenacious defense and outstanding saves from senior goalie Josi Owens. Offensively, Cuviello continued to shine, scoring multiple times, while senior Alex Walrath capitalized on a Cuviello feed, and Lieberman quickly converted a rebound off the goalie into a goal. With just over two minutes left, Cuviello beat her defender once more for a crucial score.
Despite the Cavaliers' valiant effort and remarkable resilience, Yorktown managed to hold them off, securing a narrow 10-9 victory. Woodson points: Reese Cuviello (6 goals, 2 assist), Greer Dempster (1 goal), Julia Lieberman (1 goal), Alex Walrath (1 goal)
Kudos to Coach Mike Schneider and his dedicated team of assistant and JV coaches—Jackson Miller, Claire Miller, Katie Barron, Jack Kendall, and Bob Stevenson. Their hard work and support have been instrumental in making this season stellar.
