LRES Community News 6.2.24

Message from Mrs. Castillo

Graduates

Lemon Road hopes you had a wonderful weekend enjoying this gorgeous weather.  It couldn't have been more perfect at the PTA picnic Friday evening - thanks to all who came!

Last week, we hosted the 2024 Marshall HS, McLean HS, and Thomas Jefferson HS graduates who attended Lemon Road, said farewell to our first ever bike unit in PE, welcomed kindergarten parents for a final writing celebration, and finished Friday with Skittles Day!

There is more excitement to come as we wind down the school year!   Check out our calendar below - we need your support and participation.

Parent Reminders:

  • Please sign up to volunteer to help at Field Day on Friday, June 7! We need volunteers to make the day run smoothly.
  • Look around your house for any LRES library books to return ASAP.  Watch this quick video: “How-To Check Your Library Account.”  If you believe a book has already been returned or are unable to locate a book, please contact Ms. Burke: goburke@fcps.edu
  • All items left in the Lost & Found after the last day of school will be donated.  Please stop by before June 12 to collect any remaining items.
  • A final call for any used books that your family is finished with to support our Summer Book Mobiles and reading programs.  Drop them off in the colorful bins near each entrance by Wednesday this week!
  • Parents of rising 4th - 6th graders, please open this link to watch the videos of instrument choices with your child.  All rising 4th - 6th graders must identify their preference (band, strings, or general music) by June 10, 2024 for class placement in the fall.
  • If your family is relocating or changing schools over the summer, please be sure to email Dana Vaughn to ensure we can send any records to the correct school and your updated address to send final communication and test scores.

Field Day Reminders (Friday)

All lions participate in Field Day on Friday, June 7.  This is one of the favorite events of the year.  Help your child prepare for a successful field day with these reminders:

- Students are welcome to wear a bathing suit for field day.  Students must wear both a top that covers their full abdomen and shorts (as a part of their suit or over a swimsuit).

- Send your child with a dry change of clothes, sunscreen, a towel, hat, and a bag to store wet clothes to bring home.

- All students will need a water bottle labeled with their name.

- Any student that did not pre-order lunch from the cafeteria must bring a lunch from home.  Lunches will be eaten in the classroom.
