Can you believe we have just two weeks left of school? To celebrate the last 10 days of school, we are inviting staff and students to participate in a 10-day spirit countdown! Here are the themes for each day:

June 3: "Where did you come from, where are you going?": 7th graders wear the colors of their elementary school, 8th graders wear Lewis HS colors

June 4: Teachers dress as students, students dress as teachers

June 5: Workout Wednesday: wear your favorite gym or workout clothes

June 6: Mismatch/Wacky Tacky Day: Let's see those crazy socks, wild patterns, and silly accessories!

June 7: Pajama Day

June 10: Jersey/sports gear day: wear gear or colors from a favorite sports team

June 11: Color War: 7th graders wear blue, 8th graders wear red

June 12: Field Day: dress to compete in the fields and in the staff vs. student volleyball game to end the year!

Staff are encouraged to participate as they are comfortable to join in the celebration as the school year winds down!

Class Schedules for the 2024-2025 School Year

In preparation for next school year, we would like to set your student up for success! In the spring, students made their course requests for the 2024-2025 school year. You are able to view your child’s current course selections in ParentVUE/SIS. As a reminder, students may be identified for support classes which would take priority over elective choices. We will notify you if your student has been identified for a support class. 2024-2025 class schedules will be available in ParentVUE/SIS and at our Open House the week before school starts.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss course selections, please contact your child’s school counselor by June 10th.

No Water Guns in School

Patriot Families-

We have had multiple incidents this week with students using water guns in school. This has caused a significant disruption to the halls as well as created unsafe floor conditions for students and staff. We are also seeing students poke holes in water bottles and spray other students with the water in the bottle. Please remind our students that water guns and spraying water on others is not allowed in school. Hallway safety has been negatively impacted by the presence of water guns in our school. We appreciate your support in making sure that our students are not spraying water during the school day and are not bringing water guns into the school building.

Key MS Staff

Special Opportunity for Attendance Hours

Key Middle School is pleased to offer a special opportunity for students to earn missing attendance hours that are contributing to chronic absenteeism, while also providing valuable academic support. Research consistently shows that regular school attendance and academic success are closely linked. By remaining after school to work with a teacher, your student can improve both.

Whether struggling with specific subjects, aiming to improve their grades, or simply seeking extra practice, our dedicated teachers are here to provide guidance and support. To earn back time, students must stay for a minimum of 3 hours (this needs to spread over multiple days) with an academic teacher.  Arrangements to stay after must be communicated to their teacher in advance.

By participating in this after-school program, students not only have the chance to catch up on missed work but also build a strong academic foundation that will benefit them in the long run. This opportunity to earn back attendance hours after school will end May 30th. We are requesting your parental support, by encouraging your student to take advantage of this valuable resource. Together, we can make a difference in tackling chronic absenteeism and ensuring that every student has the support they need to succeed.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your students' counselor.

Required Immunizations

  • 🩹 Required Immunizations for Rising 7th and 12th Graders

Immunizations are required for all students entering 7th and 12th grades this fall. Visit the FCPS immunization webpage to learn about the required vaccines.  Caregivers should ask their private healthcare provider or the health department to review their student's immunization record to ensure that their student has received these required immunizations.

It is important to schedule immunizations early in the summer, as seventh grade students must submit documentation of the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines before they begin school in August. Twelfth grade students must submit documentation of the Meningococcal vaccine. Get more information on all student immunization requirements.
