6th Grade Musical an
Awesome Success
We hope you were able to see our 6th graders' performance last Friday night of Disney's Finding Nemo, Jr. The performance was amazing and we had a special visit from the Superintendent, Dr. Reid!
A HUGE thank you to Mr. Wallace, Ms. Kim, Ms. Tobin, Ms. Fuchs and Ms. Fitzpatrick for your time and dedication to our students!
Thank you to all the wonderful parent volunteers who helped make this show a smashing success!!
Run Club 5K
Students from Bucky’s Run Club had the opportunity to showcase their hard work last weekend at the annual Bucky’s Run Club 5k race. Joined by staff & family, they had a wonderful morning full of support, encouragement, and activity. The race took place in the Deer Park neighborhood where they were cheered on by their community.

Deer Park - Silver Status!
We have some exciting news from the Green Team! Deer Park has achieved Silver Status Certification with the National Wildlife Foundation's EcoSchools US inititative!
Within this system, Silver is the second of four certifications we aim to achieve over the next few years; our student leaders' tremendous efforts allowed them to skip over the first step (bronze status), and go straight to the second.
We could not be any prouder of our wonderful student leaders, and the school community’s commitment to seeing this through. There is more work to be done, but this represents an important milestone for our school and community. Be on the lookout for our end-of-year newsletter with a brief survey on the Green Team's next steps.
We look forward to building on this auspicious recognition and wildly successful school year in the years ahead!

Virginia Readers' Choice Program 2024-2025!
Looking for some great books for your rising 3rd-6th grader to read this summer? Get a jump start on our Virginia Readers’ Choice Program for 2024-2025! Students who read all 10 books and complete a brief form for each book in Schoology will get a star on The Library Wall of Fame and they will be invited to a special pizza lunch next spring. Students have from now until April 1, 2025 to complete all 10 books. Questions? Email kmfarfan@fcps.edu

Families of Kindergarten students are invited to attend the end of year Blast Off celebration on June 10th at 2PM with a Reception to follow.
Sixth Grade Promotion Ceremony
June 12, 2024
Parents and families are invited to celebrate the accomplishments of our sixth grade students and reflect on their time at Deer Park on Wednesday, June 12th at 9:00 a.m. Doors will open at 8:50 a.m.
Students should "dress their best" in appropriate attire for this special day.
Health Room Reminder
All medications stored in the health room must be picked up no later
than 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12th.
Medications left in the health room after that time will be discarded.
Medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian per school policy.

Dismissal on the last day of School!!! Truck will be there 1:40 to 3:30 PM.

2024-2025 Volunteer Committee Sign Up
If you would like to be on a committee for next school year please sign up here. We really need someone to help with Staff Appreciation, Reflections, and the Fun Run as those require some work over the summer to plan. If anybody is good at getting sponsorships from large companies please email us. We really want to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Deer Park this coming year!!

The PTA is always looking to improve and make sure we are meeting the needs of the children at the school. Please fill out the anonymous survey here.
We would like to invite you all to follow the Deer Park Elementary PTA - Centreville, VA Page on Facebook if you have not done so already. We post a lot of information there.
We also have a closed Facebook group for the Deer Park ES Community. Please make sure you answer the questions so we can approve you. Just put the grade your child will be in twice since you do not know your teacher yet.
