A Message From Mrs. Burke
Hello, Edison HS Community,
It has been a busy week here at Edison! I'd like to share some recent highlights and upcoming events.
Senior Picnic Success!
Last Thursday, our seniors enjoyed a wonderful day outdoors during our annual Senior Picnic. The event featured a dunk tank, an inflatable obstacle course, and delicious treats from Jersey Mike's and Kona Ice. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces enjoying the festivities.
Varsity Sports Award Night
We celebrated our student-athletes this past Tuesday at the Varsity Sports Award Night. It was an inspiring evening as we recognized our teams' hard work and achievements, including those who reached district, regional, and state championships. Congratulations to all our athletes for their dedication and spirit!
Senior Choice Awards
Wednesday night was filled with laughter and cheer as we hosted the Senior Choice Awards. The evening celebrated our seniors with various superlatives, highlighting their unique and memorable contributions to our school community.
Senior Academic Awards
We also honored academic excellence and service to our school at our Senior Academic Awards this past Thursday night. It was a remarkable occasion to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our students in their scholarly pursuits. Here are part of my opening remarks, which apply to all the senior class and their families.
Seniors, tonight is about you. Your dedication, perseverance, and exceptional talent have truly been inspiring. You've raised the bar for future classes and left a lasting impact on our school. We've cherished the memories we've made together, and while you'll be missed, know that your accomplishments will continue to resonate within these walls.
To the supportive parents and guardians: Your encouragement and involvement haven't gone unnoticed. You've been true partners in your children's education, enriching our school community. For those nearing the end of your Edison journey, we extend a heartfelt thank you. Though we'll miss your presence, you'll always be welcome at our events. And to those returning with younger children, we look forward to continuing this partnership.
Finally, to our dedicated staff: Your passion for education is the foundation of this year's success. You've fostered an environment where our seniors could excel, going above and beyond the classroom walls. Your influence will be cherished by these graduates for years to come. Thank you for guiding our seniors toward this well-deserved finish line.
Looking Ahead: Graduation Day
Please mark your calendars for our graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 5th, at 7:30 PM. We look forward to celebrating this milestone achievement with our seniors and their families.
Principal's Coffee
I invite all parents to join me for a Principal's Coffee on Thursday, June 20th, at 9:00 AM. This will be a great opportunity for an end-of-year reflection and to discuss our successes and opportunities for growth.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in making Edison High School a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow. I am looking forward to the exciting events we have coming up and to celebrating the achievements of our amazing students.

 Seniors decorated the rock today!
1. Early Release on Wednesday, June 5 at Edison HS ONLY
Graduation Day for the Class of 2024 is Wednesday, June 5 at 7:30 PM at EagleBank Arena, which makes for a very long day for faculty and staff. Edison High School will have an early release at 10:30 AM that day. However, our elementary and middle schools that feed into Edison will have a regular day, so your younger children will not be released early.

Students will be placed and accepted on a rolling admission basis. Please contact please contact Greg Dombrowski: GSDombrowski@fcps.edu for further information.
 3. 2024 IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Celebrations
During Year 5 (10th grade) of the IB MYP, students are expected to complete a self-selected capstone Personal Project. The Personal Project is an opportunity for students to showcase their learning throughout the IB MYP (grades 7 -10) and reflect on their learning and growth. The IB MYP Personal Project consists of three (3) main components: the product, the presentation, and the reflective report. Students who earn a predicted grade of seven (7) or higher earn the FCPS/IB MYP Personal Project Certificate and are eligible for the FCPS/IB MYP Certificate.
The IB MYP Personal Project is one of three (3) FCPS/IB MYP Certificate components. Students must also maintain good academic standing by completing their MYP course assessments and the required service learning hours.
We are pleased to congratulate the following students on their FCPS/IB MYP achievements!

This October, the SAT School Day will be administered in a digital format nationwide. Some testing accommodations are administered differently for digital tests than for paper/pencil tests. See information about accommodations for students with disabilities.
SAT School Day and PSAT/NMSQT
SAT School Day and PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) exams will be held at each high school on Wednesday, October 9, at no cost to families. The digital SAT School Day exam is offered to 12th grade students, and the digital PSAT/NMSQT exam is provided to 10th and 11th grade students.
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities and Multilingual Learner Supports
Because these exams are operated by the College Board, students do not automatically receive testing accommodations or supports.
