Engineering and PT/OT Students Team Up to Design a Gift for Liam

When Chantilly Academy students work together, the possibilities are endless!  This proved to be true when our Engineering and PT/OT students worked together to develop a mobile, adjustable, and customizable medical bed for Liam, a Rocky Run MS student who will be coming to Chantilly HS next year.  Liam has Nemaline myopathy, a type of muscular dystrophy that leaves him nearly paralyzed.  Liam has been receiving homebound instruction this year, but is eager to return to school and be around his peers.  PT/OT students provided input on Liam's physical needs and how to make him comfortable during the school day while Engineering students took that feedback and developed a medical bed that will make Liam's return to school possible.

Eight cadets, one former cadet, and four parents of cadets from Chantilly Academy's AFJROTC program volunteered their time at Arlington National Cemetery for the The Honor Project over Memorial Day weekend.  Volunteers placed approximately 150 wooden tokens of valor on specific gravesite of soldiers whose loved ones could not be there to do it themselves.
