Field Trip Payments

Field trip permission forms and payments were due today for both the 8th grade trip to Kings Dominion and the 7th grade trip to the National Mall.

Payment is crucial to reserve buses and tickets. To ensure a smooth process, please submit payment online via MySchoolBucks. Please double-check that you are paying on the correct account and not accidentally using the lunch account.

7th Grade DC Field Trip - Permission Slips and Chaperones Needed

On Tuesday, June 11, all 7th-grade students will participate in a scavenger hunt, taking them to iconic memorials around the National Mall.  Permission slips are due to your child’s history teacher by Friday, May 31st.  Extra copies are on your child’s history class Schoology page.

We still need parent chaperones for our end-of-year field trip to Washington, DC! Chaperones will lead groups of up to 10 students as they try to solve riddles that can only be answered by physically locating clues at locations such as the Washington Monument and Vietnam War Memorial. If you are interested in chaperoning this trip, please complete this Google Form. See below for more details on the trip. Email your child's history teacher if you have any questions before volunteering.

Student Device Return Information

Student device collection is fast approaching. Please ensure your child comes to school with their FCPS issued laptop and student issued charger (see image below) on their designated return day.

chargers

Return Procedures:

  • Regular Return: Students will return their FCPS-issued laptops and student issued chargers during their designated math class on Thursday, June 6th or Friday, June 7th. Please confirm that they have removed any USB devices, flash drives, and personal stickers from the device before returning it. Make sure to double check that your child is returning the correct charger.
  • Students Leaving Early: If your child will be starting summer break before his/her designated turn in date please have them drop the device and charger off in room 1210 on their last day. Please ensure both the laptop and charger are clearly labeled with your child's first and last name.

Lost or Misplaced Items:

Replacement fees will apply for lost or misplaced chargers ($23) and laptops ($444). Payments for replacements can be made throughMySchoolBucks. A device will not be issued for the upcoming school year until both items are returned or the fee is paid in full. Students who do not return a student issued charger like the one pictured above will be marked as needing to pay the $23 charger replacement fee.

FCPS Summer Programs:

Students enrolled in the FCPS online campus, IMAGINE, or Young Scholars summer programs will be permitted to keep their laptops and chargers until the program concludes on Friday, August 2nd, 2024. Following program completion, devices must be returned promptly to Cooper Middle School.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We encourage you to discuss these return procedures with your child. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the timely return of your child’s laptop and charger and we wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable summer vacation.

High School Credit Courses

High school credit-bearing courses will be reflected on the middle and high school transcripts. In  accordance with Virginia state regulations, FCPS Regulation 2408 permits parents of students who take a high school credit-bearing course in middle school to request that the grade be omitted from the student's high school transcript and the student not earn high school credit for  the course. Parents must make this request no later than the end of the first nine weeks of the school year following completion of the course. The request to expunge as well as guidelines and the procedures for expunging grades for high school courses taken in middle school can be found at the following link: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/is104.pdf
