Dear Colin Powell families,
We are so excited to be able to bring back field day this year! Our date is set for Monday, June 3rd! (Rain date is Wednesday, June 5th). It will be a day of fun in the sun to bring this amazing school year to an end! Our field day will be split into two groups, grades 3-6 will be in the morning and grades K-2 will be in the afternoon.
This year's festivities include many water activities, so we ask that each student wear a shirt and shorts that are appropriate for getting wet and possibly bring a set of dry clothes and shoes. There are several stations that include running, jumping, etc. so students should also make sure they wear comfortable shoes, sneakers! We encourage students to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses/hat, and a towel!
Thank you!

Summer enrichment opportunities can provide students access to review and support meaningful learning experiences aligned to course objectives. Required summer assignments are not allowed as they can pose barriers for students who are unable to complete them and create the perception that the rigor of a course is only accessible for those with conditions that support structured learning over the summer.
The purpose of optional summer enrichment might be to:
- Activate students’ background knowledge and skills;
- Provide opportunity to review introductory topics/prerequisites for the course; or
- Create or enhance enthusiasm and interest in a subject or to serve as a springboard for future learning.
Summer enrichment activities should not be given to learn new material or fill large gaps as a result of the pandemic. Whenever possible, it is recommended to provide students with voice and choice in their learning. Linked below are options that can be utilized by families.
ST Math
All students have access to ST Math over the summer that they can access through Schoology. This video shows students and families how to access: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQR_drzeR9E
In addition to the information listed below, it is recommended that students who are moving from a standard level math class to an honors level math class have their ST Math journey reassigned to the next grade level.
