Message from Mrs. Castillo

Music

Last week was a fantastic celebration of our art program at Lemon Road.  Our band, strings, chorus, and art students and teachers all wowed the community with their hard work.  Thank you to all who helped with the preparation and execution of the event!

We hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend filled with quality time together. We are ending the year with many activities!  Check out our calendar below - we need your support and participation.

Parent Reminders:

  • Please sign up to volunteer to help at Field Day on Friday, June 7! We need volunteers to make the day run smoothly.
  • Start looking around your house for any LRES library books.  Be sure your child reads then returns it by May 29.  Watch this quick video: “How-To Check Your Library Account.”  If you believe a book has already been returned or are unable to locate a book, please contact Ms. Burke: goburke@fcps.edu
  • LRES is collecting used books that your family is finished with to support our Summer Book Mobiles and reading programs.  Drop them off in the colorful bins near each entrance!
  • Parents of rising 4th - 6th graders, please open this link to watch the videos of instrument choices with your child.  All rising 4th - 6th graders must identify their preference (band, strings, or general music) by June 10, 2024 for class placement in the fall.
  • If your family is relocating or changing schools over the summer, please be sure to email Dana Vaughn to ensure we can send any records to the correct school and your updated address to send final communication and test scores.

LRES PTA Updates

Ice Cream

Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped to get all 586 pieces of artwork mounted, hung and displayed in time for this week’s Evening of the Arts - the art work will remain up until June 3rd so please take the time to look if you are in school before then - we have some wonderful artists at Lemon Road!

  • Join us for the EOY Picnic and Ice Cream Social on May 31st from 6 - 8pm. The SweetFrog truck will be behind the school and the PTA will sell concessions and have music playing.  Bring a picnic and a blanket and enjoy a relaxing Friday evening before school is out for the summer!  Sign up here to volunteer to help at the event - MS and 6th graders welcome!
  • Each year the Lemon Road PTA Board is honored to select one winner of the Carolyn Miller Spirit of Generosity Award. Nominations are now open and close on June 2nd. Any member of the Lemon Road community is welcome to nominate any staff member. For more detail on the award criteria and to complete your nomination please click here
  • We know this year isn’t quite finished yet but it’s time to start planning for next year! Order your school supplies now for the fall so they are waiting for your child at Open House and support the PTA by doing so!
