WFES Library Books - Please Return

books

The shelves are filling up fast in the library! We are incredibly appreciative of the nearly 1,400 books that were returned this week, and have been locating more ourselves as we’re organizing the shelves for the summer and completing our yearly inventory. As of Friday 5/31, we do have about 1,100 more books that still need to be returned. Lists of overdue books are being emailed to families daily beginning on Friday 5/31, and will also include the replacement cost of each one. If you are having difficulty locating a missing book and would like to replace it, please utilize one of the following options:

  1. Send in cash or a check made out to the Wakefield Forest Library. It is best if these payments are sent in with an envelope clearly indicating that the money is for a lost library book.
  2. Made a payment online via My School Bucks (the same system used to load money onto a cafeteria account) and choose “lost library book” as the reason for payment
  3. Purchase a new copy of the missing book from Amazon or the retailer of your choice and either send it directly to the school to the attention of the library (please include a note on your order indicating who it is from if you choose this option) or have your child deliver it directly to Mrs. Rapuano or Mrs. Grimsley in the library

We ask that all library obligations be satisfied ASAP, but no later than Friday 6/7. Thank you so much for your efforts to locate and return your books, we sincerely appreciate every single one!

6/5 - Senior Grad Walk

Last Day to Pick Up Meds

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than Wednesday, June 12th at 1:30 PM. Medication left in the health room after Wednesday, June 12th at 1:30 PM will be destroyed. It is Health Department policy that medications be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. Please contact Stephanie McNamara in the health room @ 703-503-2310 if you have questions.

Crystal Needs Summer Home

ax

Dear Parents/Students,

As you know the STEAM room has an  Axolotl named Crystal ( we use to have a pair but unfortunately Rocky past away this spring). Crystal has just finished its second year of elementary school with us and would like to celebrate by going on a summer vacation somewhere nice in the Wakefield community. If your family would like to watch them for part of the summer or all of the summer please fill out form below.

We are looking for a family or two  to watch Crystal  in your very own AirBnB household.   The family must be willing to:

  1. Hand feed dried shrimp (with a tweezer) to Crystal  daily.  They are trained now so if you tap on glass and move the shrimp likes its moving they will track their prey and eat it.  They typically eat 3-5 shrimp at a time.  Please gently smoosh the shrimp so that it is softer when they eat it.
  2. Monitor tank temperature (must be around 60 degrees and have a small fan that runs to keep it cool).
  3. Monitor to make sure fans and bubblers are operating correctly,
  4. Resist temptation to touch the Axolotl with bare hands (oil on our skin is very bad for Axolotls).

Mr. Gray will give you the tank, water and all materials related to watching the Axolotls successfully.

If you are interested in hosting our Axolotls at your AirBNB please fill out information in the link below by next Friday 06/07/24,  I will contact you if your family is selected.  Don't fret as you will have another opportunity during future breaks during the school year.
