Band, Chorus and Strings Concerts
Congratulations to our band, strings, and chorus students who have their spring concerts this week! 6th Grade performed on Tuesday, and 4th and 5th grade will be performing tonight! Good luck 4th and 5th grade tonight!
For those of you attending tonight's concert for 4th and 5th grade, below is the information.
Date: Thursday, May 30, 2024
Location: Rocky Run Middle School
Address: 4400 Stringfellow Road, Chantilly, VA 20151
Attire: Concert Uniform (Green GBW Music t-shirt, dark pants, dark shoes)
Concert Report Time: 6:00pm
- All Students Enter through Door #1

Strings students should report to the cafeteria.

Chorus students should report to the cafeteria
Concert Start Time: 6:30 PM
Students are expected to stay for the duration of the performance. Please honor our GBW musicians and support all of them throughout our concert!
Parking at Rocky Run is very limited and fills up quickly. If you are able to park at GBW and walk over, please consider helping out the parking situation at RRMS!

GBW Summer Reading Activities
Bookmark the GBW Summer Reading Website, https://sites.google.com/view/gbw-summer-reading/home?authuser=1, to find reading programs, choice boards, and activities to keep your child busy all summer long!
Here are some of the things you will find…
- Capstone’s Virtual Summer Camp Adventure filled with bi-weekly choice boards filled with activities around reading, creating, coding, science, moving, technology, and more!
- Links to local reading programs (Fairfax County Public Library’s Summer Reading Adventure, Barnes and Noble, Fairfax County Puzzle Hunt, and Scholastic)

GBW Student Chosen as
Winner for Virginia in
Doodle for Google Student Contest!!
Our talented GBW student, Arya Pribadi, could soon have her art on the Google homepage for hundreds of millions to see. Google is announcing the 55 State and Territory winners in its Doodle for Google competition, a contest where K-12 students across the United States have the opportunity to create their own version of the Google logo inspired by the prompt “My wish for the next 25 years…”.
Arya, a 3rd grader here at Greenbriar West, is one of the 55 US State and Territory Winners with her Doodle. Arya’s Doodle was selected from thousands of entries received this year. Students at Greenbriar West recently helped Arya celebrate during a surprise class assembly.
To help their favorite Doodles succeed, people across the U.S. can vote for their favorite Doodle from the 55 State and Territory Winners. Voting will be open from May 22 - June 4 on this site: https://doodles.google.com/d4g/ and the public vote will determine the contest finalists and winner. Google will announce the five National Finalists and one of whom will have their Doodle featured on the Google homepage for a day.
Let's Vote for Arya!!
The National Winner will take home a $55,000 college scholarship and their school will receive a $50,000 tech package towards the establishment or improvement of a computer lab or technology program.

Extra Class Pictures Available
for Purchase
We have a limited number of Lifetouch classroom pictures available for purchase, first come, first served. The cost to purchase a class picture is $10 cash or check made out to Greenbriar West Elementary School. Please email Sally Bippert to purchase one today!
2024-25 Supply Lists
Get a head start on the 2024-25 school year by pre-purchasing your child's school supplies. Each Spring the GBW PTA offers the convenience of pre-packaged "supply kits" from Campus Survival Kits.
Instructions for online ordering can be found at www.campussurvivalkits.com/gbw, as well as on our GBW school homepage. Online ordering closes on July 15.
Supply kits ordered through Campus Survival Kits will be delivered to the school sometime in August. You will receive notification in August as to when your supply kit(s) will be available.
If you would like to purchase your own school supplies, supply lists, by grade level, can be found on our school website under the Academics tab.
