A Message From Mrs. Burke

Hello, Edison HS Community,

Happy Friday! As the year is starting to come to a close, we have had weeks filled with memorable moments and outstanding performances.

Firstly, our senior prom this past Saturday was a tremendous success! The students looked wonderful, all dressed up, and had a great time dancing and creating lasting memories with their classmates. It was truly a night to remember.

Our soccer team played in the district playoffs, and although they played with great heart and determination, they faced a tough loss. We are proud of their effort and sportsmanship throughout the season.

On Monday, our talented orchestra, along with students from our feeder middle school, Twain, delivered a beautiful concert that showcased their hard work and musical skills. Their performance was truly inspiring and a testament to their dedication.

This past Wednesday night, our band put on a remarkable concert, displaying their impressive talents and bringing joy to all who attended. Their performance was energetic and captivating, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained.

On Thursday, we celebrated our theater students at the Thespie Awards. It was a wonderful evening recognizing the creativity and dedication of our thespians.

Today, we have both our baseball and softball teams playing in the regionals at home. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to cheering them on.

As we look ahead, we have a busy week of senior events lined up. On Tuesday, we will host the Varsity Awards Ceremony, followed by the Senior Choice Awards on Wednesday. Thursday will be an exciting day with our Senior Picnic during the day and the Senior Awards ceremony in the evening.

Lastly, I want to wish everyone a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy the time with family and friends, and let's take a moment to honor and remember those who have served our country.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school community.

Principal

5. Make it Easy on Yourself...

1.  Remember to update any change in your family information -- phone, address, emergency contacts -- as soon as you can.

2.  Ensure that your email address and phone number matches your emergency care information. We can't release a student unless we can verify that it's you!

12. Calling all MDs, DOs, PAs and NPs who are licensed to practice in Virginia

We need your help on Thursday, May 30 for the Edison Sports Physicals Night Athletic Training Fundraiser. This event is how we raise money to purchase medical supplies (tape, bandages, ice bags, crutches, etc.). We receive NO FUNDING from FCPS for supplies. Last year, we took a $1,400 loss because we had to close athlete registration early due to low number of volunteers.

At our event, we have ATCs, nurses and PTs who start the exam with height, weight, BP, vision, and functional orthopedic screenings, then the athletes see an MD, DO, PA or NP for the final exam and clearance for sport participation. Dinner is provided for volunteers starting at 4:30 pm. You would see your first athlete around 5:45 pm and we are usually finished around 7:50 pm.

Please consider helping at our event, even if it’s just for an hour and please feel free to share this info with any MDs, DOs, PAs and NPs you know who may be able to hep as well. Use the link below to register as a volunteer. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Email Edison Head Athletic Trainer, Tom Milosavich tjmilosavich@fcps.edu with any questions. Thank you again!
