GBW Student Chosen as
Winner for Virginia in
Doodle for Google Student Contest!!
Our talented GBW student, Arya, could soon have her art on the Google homepage for hundreds of millions to see. Google is announcing the 55 State and Territory winners in its Doodle for Google competition, a contest where K-12 students across the United States have the opportunity to create their own version of the Google logo inspired by the prompt “My wish for the next 25 years…”.
Arya, a student here at Greenbriar West, is one of the 55 US State and Territory Winners with her Doodle. Arya’s Doodle was selected from thousands of entries received this year. Students at Greenbriar West recently helped Arya celebrate during a surprise class assembly.
To help their favorite Doodles succeed, people across the U.S. can vote for their favorite Doodle from the 55 State and Territory Winners. Voting will be open from May 22 - June 4 on this site: https://doodles.google.com/d4g/ and the public vote will determine the contest finalists and winner. Google will announce the five National Finalists and one of whom will have their Doodle featured on the Google homepage for a day.
Let's Vote for Arya!!
The National Winner will take home a $55,000 college scholarship and their school will receive a $50,000 tech package towards the establishment or improvement of a computer lab or technology program.

Dear GBW Families,
Dr. Michelle Reid has been hosting Community Conversations and Employee Conversations throughout the division since the fall of this school year. She is committed to getting to know our school communities.
The dates for the final two Community Conversations are below. These events provide a great opportunity for parents and caregivers to connect with Dr. Reid, share concerns and ideas. She is there to listen and answer your questions. Your voice is important.
We invite you to register for the last community conversations of the school year. Please register for a time and place that is convenient for you. Pre-registration is not required but does help us plan.

Students are expected to stay for the duration of the performance. Please honor our GBW musicians and support all of them throughout our concert!
Parking at Rocky Run is very limited and fills up quickly. If you are able to park at GBW and walk over, please consider helping out the parking situation at RRMS!

We have a limited number of Lifetouch classroom pictures available for purchase, first come, first served. The cost to purchase a class picture is $10 cash or check made out to Greenbriar West Elementary School. Please email Sally Bippert to purchase one today!
Fairfax County is Hosting its
1st Puzzle Hunt!
Launching June 15, 2024
The Solving Fun Puzzle Pals have been hard at work, creating an exhilarating adventure for puzzle solvers. We are thrilled to announce the Fairfax County Puzzle Hunt, a unique community event that will take you on a journey to the wonderful parks in Fairfax County. Starting this summer, solve one puzzle or do them all. Puzzles are filled with creative thinking, logic, and wordplay. They are designed to be challenging and accessible for all skill levels. Solve the puzzles and then find clues at the parks for a final meta-puzzle. Walk, bike, and roll at our wonderful local parks with friends and family. Snack Donations Needed
Please consider donating snacks for students at Greenbriar West Elementary! These snacks are kept with our counseling staff and in the main office to help support students who don't have a snack during the school day. Thank you for your support!
