As we approach the end of the school year, please be on the lookout for important notices about upcoming events from your child's teacher. These notices will be sent via email or through Talking Points.

Additionally, we want to emphasize the importance of attendance. Every single day counts, right up until the last day of school. Let's work together to ensure a strong finish to the school year!

End-of-Year Important Events:

As the school year winds down, we have several important events and dates to mark on your calendars:

  • June 10th Field Day - Get ready for a day of fun-filled outdoor activities and games for all students
  • June 11th 9:30 a.m. 5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony 
  • June 12th Last Day of School - Let's bid farewell to another fantastic school year with smiles and fond memories. 2 hour Early Release, 1:30 dismissal

Important Information from our Specialist Teachers 

From Mr. Zupan & Mr. Henry - Field Day Information 

Field Day Information

Date: June 10, 2024 Time: 9:30 am  2:10 am (this will also allow for classes to change out of wet clothes)

Event Sign Up:

  • Mr. Henry will post on Sign Up Genius by May 12 and send a flyer home in Wednesday folders for both Staff and PTA Volunteers with descriptions
  • We are seeking bilingual spanish speaking parent volunteers
  • A schedule that is by grade and by event will be sent out for families to meet up with their child's class
  • Parent Help:
    • Canopies and Coolers need names on them so we can make sure to return them properly.  They will be placed on the curb towards the end of the day. 
    • Games/Activities,
    • Canopy/Coolers with Ice drop off is at 9 by the SACC curb. 
    • 2:30 would love parent help to bring all equipment in (they most difficult are all the wet buckets/hoses to by place in the chemical shower located in gym offic
  • Front office will each get a master copy of each class location and a map

Spring Concert

Band, Chorus and Strings concert is Wednesday, June 5th! Strings students, arrive at 6:00pm to the gym, band at 6:30, chorus at 6:30 to the library.  This will be a wonderful celebration of everyone’s hard work! Attire: plain, white tops, black or dark bottoms.

Library  News

  • Looking ahead, it’s hard to believe but the final date for students to check out from the school library is Friday 5/24 All student books are due back by 5/29; this date is set by the county.  After 5/29, student books are overdue.  Please help your student locate and return all their library books.
  • June 6th - Fairfax County Public Library will visit to discuss their summer reading program 
  • Battle of the Books Results - this was an amazing event!  9 teams competed to show their knowledge of 11 selected books; they deciphered clues, figured out puzzles, and worked together as a team – and had a great time! Congratulations  to our 5th grade winners and our two 4th grade runners up!   

⏰ Share Your Thoughts on Middle School Start Times

Attend a forum to hear about adolescent sleep research from an expert, learn about FCPS’ ongoing middle school start times study, and participate in small group discussions. All forums will deliver the same presentation and provide the same feedback opportunities. Breakout sessions will be held for middle school students to share their voices. Students are encouraged to attend!
