Message from Dr. Khoshaba

Greetings, SoCo family,

May is one of my favorite months of the year. In addition to the beautiful flowers that bloom, it houses many special days: Mother’s Day, many of my family and friends’ birthdays, and preparation time for graduation! Let’s review the latest news in the world of SoCo …

Celebrating 20 Years of Excellence!

As we march closer to South County High School's 20th birthday bash, we're gearing up for a celebration that promises to be two decades in the making! With a tentatively planned Spring 2025 extravaganza on the horizon, it's time to kick off the party planning. If you're eager to join the fun and help make this milestone event one to remember, don't hesitate to shoot an email over to Michelle Gunderman at mcgunderman@fcps.edu and let's get this party started!

Taking Victory Laps!

Looks like our softball team really "pitched" a perfect game against Mount Vernon, scoring an impressive 18-0 victory! With hits like that, they're definitely on the "fast-pitch" to success. Congratulations on sliding into the next round of the Regions!

Way to kick it, Girls Soccer team! With a 2-0 victory last week, you're not just scoring goals, you're scoring tickets to the Region game! Keep dribbling towards success!

Looks like our track teams are really sprinting ahead in the race for success! Whether it's the girls’ or boys’ team, they're both "running" circles around the competition. Keep up the pace, track stars!

Harmony in Motion

It's been a symphony of success this week with our music concerts hitting all the right notes! Huge applause to our talented students for orchestrating such melodious performances straight from the heart. Encore, encore!

Leaders of Tomorrow: Celebrating Our Student Trailblazers!

I'd like to extend a big congratulations to Parker Bryant for achieving his SEALS (Student Equity Ambassador Leaders) cord. His dedication as an equity leader has been invaluable, making a significant impact during his time in high school. We take pride in his accomplishments and eagerly anticipate witnessing his future endeavors.

It’s important to also recognize our students who served in the Global Leaders program. Minh Do, Ethan Larimore, and Maya Martinos learned and practiced leadership, as well as how to make the world a better place. I can’t wait to see the type of impact these next-level world influences will have on us!

Diving Into Innovation

Venturing into the Entrepreneurship class last Friday was an absolute delight! With a "Shark Tank" vibe, students joined forces to present their ingenious business ideas. Whether brewing up plans for a coffee shop or cooking up concepts for a food truck, our Stallions are stirring up innovation that's truly impressive. Hats off to their entrepreneurial spirit—keep riding the wave, SoCo!

Calling All Voices: Become the Morning Maestro

Calling all potential voice virtuosos! We're on the hunt for a new student announcer for the 2024-25 school year, and we need someone as outstanding as Noah Pflugrath, our current announcer. With posters popping up all over the school like musical notes, auditions are set to rock the house this week (May 28-May 31). If you know a student with a talent for the spotlight, encourage them to scan this QR code and step up to the mic. Let's make some announcements that really sing, SoCo!

Medication Pick Up

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the South County High School health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that prescription medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Only over-the-counter (OTC such as ibuprofen, Aleve, etc…) can be picked up by the student with parent permission. If your student is attending a summer program with FCPS, the current medication authorizations may be used for those programs (parent/guardian must pick up from SCHS health room and then deliver the forms and medication to summer site).
