Here is a quick recap of first week of spring sports

Baseball travels to West Potomac for region first round Tuesday, May 21 at 6:30pm.

Softball hits the road to Woodson for region first round play Tuesday, May 21 at 6:30pm

Boys Soccer had an exciting week in the district tournament. Monday, the Atoms played host to the Justice Wolves. The Atoms came out strong scoring their first goal in the first two minutes of the game. The tone was set as the Atoms scored 6 in the game to win 6-3! The Atoms moved on to face Falls Church Wednesday evening. It was a back and forth game for the first 20 minutes before the Atoms scored 2 goals before the half to take a 2-0 at the midway point. The Atoms played tough defense in the second half to win 2-1 and move on the to district championship Monday at Lewis!

Girls Soccer played in the district tournament this year. Monday the Atoms hosted Falls Church and came away with a 2-0 win over the Jaguars to move on the district semifinals vs Hayfield. In the semis, the Hawks scored a couple early goals to set the tone for the game that resulted in a 3-0 win for the Hawks. The Atoms qualified for the region tournament as the 3 seed and will host Woodson Monday evening at 6:00pm! Come out and support the Atoms as they look to move on to the quarterfinals.

Outdoor Track had an impressive National District Meet with several Atoms finishing in the top 5 of their respective events. The Atoms were led by High Jump District Champion Jeremiah Nelson and long jump runner up Pamela Moura. Other Atoms that had impressive performances were the girls 4x100, 4x400, 4x800 relays, and Joelle Brewerson who all finished third in their events. Several other Atoms like Kiera Dalrymple, Ta'niyah Peterkin, Fiker Shewangizaw, and Anna Fitzgerald finished fourth in their events. The Atoms now move on the region meet at Robinson, May 22 and 23.

Boys Tennis played at Lake Braddock Monday in the first round of the regional tournament. The Bruins were too much for the Atoms bringing their season to a close. The Atoms showed a lot of growth and improvement throughout the year and look to build on that in 2025.

Girls Tennis traveled to Fairfax Monday evening for region first round play. The Lions roared past the Atoms to end their season. The Atoms' future is bright as they return a lot of youth for 2025.

Boys Lacrosse played Woodson in the first round of the region tournament. The Cavaliers were too much for the Atoms as they ran away for the victory. The Atoms showed a lot of resilience this season and look to continue moving the program in the right direction in 2025.

Girls Lacrosse's season came to an end in the first round of the region tournament with a loss to West Potomac. The Wolverines scored early and often to the put the Atoms away. The Atoms played hard throughout the year and return some keys pieces to the program in 2025.
