Principal’s Message

Wolverine Families,

West Potomac has been in full effect with testing the past few weeks.  As we are winding down, I am excited to see how well our students performed on the AP exams and SOL exams!  Many of our AP Students are taking AP Exams and still working in other classes.  All these students are putting in a great amount of time for testing.

Recently, West Potomac students had a 5th place finish at the TSA Technosphere in Hampton.  West Po’s entry in Children’s Stories by the team of Sophie Webster & Hadley Batchelor ended up in 5th place, which is another awesome accomplishment.

We had amazing performances in the Spring Choral Concert Battle!

Graduation is right around the corner.  Our stellar Seniors will graduate on June 11th at 2 pm at Eagle Bank Arena.  We will have a modified schedule that day and will dismiss at 10:30 am in order to get our faculty and staff to graduation.

I stopped by Mr. Barnett’s Pre-Algebra class.  All the students were engaged and learning.

Fashion Show- There is still time to get tickets for our Fashion Show on Saturday.  The students involved have worked hard on their designs and the production of the show.  See below:

FCPS CARES submission:

Instructional assistants in the Cat B program at West Potomac High School raised money for one of their colleagues that has a chronic health condition and takes continuous medication more than $600.00 in less than a week.  This information is posted on the FCPS CARES webpage, accessible at https://www.fcps.edu/news/fcps-cares-may-2024.

Recipient:

Randi E Greene

FCPS CARES submission:

I’m writing to recognize the wonderful caring work of Ms. Randi Greene and the Cat B team in the special education department at West Potomac High School. Ms. Greene is extremely thoughtful and compassionate. Ms. Greene provides additional homework and often reaches out to share an antidote or story from the day. She and her team make a big deal out of birthdays and organize a “party”. They buy balloons and sing. This group of kids has very limited social activities outside school, so this is a big deal. She has helped orchestrate opportunities for parents to connect with other parents. These introductions have led to more extracurricular activities and social interactions. Most of all Ms. Greene and the Cat B team have stayed positive and supportive of my son, despite some challenging behavior flare ups. Thank you❤️.

Even in the last few weeks, please remember to send students to school each and every day!

Have a great weekend,

Jessica Statz, Principal
