Bush Hill Updates - Tuesday, May 21, 2024

A Note From Mrs. Duffy

Dear Bush Hill Families,
This week has been a whirlwind of activity, filled with inspiring displays of teamwork and sportsmanship!
Special Olympics Little Feet Meet
On Friday, our school community was proud to participate in the Special Olympics Little Feet Meet. We had [number] student athletes and [number] peer mentors showcase their talents and enthusiasm at this heartwarming event. The local media even recognized our school's spirit! You can see the fantastic coverage of our participation here and here. FCPS also published an article recently about our team's practice and preparation for the event which you can read here
Girls on the Run Finishes Strong!
This past weekend, I was able to cheer on 75 of our amazing girls who participated in the Girls on the Run 5K race at Pentagon City, along with their supportive buddy runners and dedicated coaches. Their hard work and commitment truly paid off! Huge thanks to our GOTR Coaches: Jen Steiner, Kate Fitzpatrick, Catie Polis, Kayleigh Purcell, Maggie Williams, Natalie Montero, Mandy McGroddy, Lauren McKinnon, Atasha Jackson, and Alison Bieber. They volunteered their time and expertise throughout the season, making it such a positive experience for our girls.
These events exemplify the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and celebrating individual achievements. We are so proud of our student athletes, peer mentors, and Girls on the Run participants!
Looking Ahead
We have another exciting week planned, with our Band and Chorus Concert on Thursday night. Be sure to check the school calendar for more details.
As always, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or the main office if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mary E. Duffy
